Solasta: Crown Of The Magister features quite a few different side quests and of which are often put into their own category.

We have the Main Story QuestsSecondary or Side Quests and of course the basic Tutorial Quests. These can also be unlocked by talking to various different NPC and continuing through the main story. You can then view the quest and the quest’s description through the Journal

For this specific page we will be focusing on the The Monastery – Main Quest. This particular quest involves us hunting for our second gem

  • QUEST NAME: The Monastery
  • QUEST TYPE: Main Quest
  • ACT / CHAPTER: Act 1 – The Adventure Begins!
  • LOCATION: Caer Cyflen
  • QUEST GIVER: Main Story. Unmissable.
  • PREREQUISITE: The Dark Castle
  • NEXT QUEST: Path To Glory

  • Our next stop whilst searching for gems takes us to The Monastery, which is a rather long quest and one in which takes us to a brand new village, our second after Caer Cyflen
  • Anyway start off by heading to the Possible Gem Location (it is North West of Caer Lem Outpost)
  • For now keep following the path, there is nothing of note here, however at the end of the path there will be a rock that you can push. Push this rock in order to clear a path for yourself
  • Then use the platforms on the waterfall to get to the other side
  • A fight will then occur against some Goblins and Tiger Drakes
  • Feel free to collect any loot that you want, remember holding the ‘ALT’ key will be very helpful for this as it will highlight anything you can interact with, including any loot containers
  • Here you can find loot such as GP and SP coins
  • When you are ready continue on down the path to yet another fight, this time against a bunch of Goblins
  • Again feel free to collect any loot, there isn’t much here other than a few ingredients for crafting and coins. You can also inspect the nearby graves too if you want, again nothing of particular interest though
  • Continuing on you should notice an abandoned boat next to a crate and a bunch of trees, inspect the crate to find a Tirmarian Master Smith’s Memories (Faction Relic) and some crafting recipes
  • Continuing on a bit further you will now come across the Mausoleum and trigger a scene. Here you will also unlock the side quest Apostasy
  • We will now need to solve a magical stone puzzle, you can find the solution here. There are multiple stone puzzles like this one during the quest and you basically need to click on the stones in a certain order in order to reflect the same symbol from the small panel on the floor onto the building
  • After solving the stone puzzle we will now be introduced to Kythaela who seems to be in all of a daze after being stuck in the mausoleum for quite some time. Kythaela will be a new companion (at least for this quest anyway) she will be a key companion whom you must keep alive otherwise if she does fall then it will be Game Over
  • We will now need to travel to Coparann, which is to the North of the Tirmarian Ruins. However, as we travel we will get stopped a few times as Kythaela tries to recollect her memories
  • Our first stop will be at a nearby ruin. There isn’t much here but you can find an Encrypted Spellbook (Faction Relic) in the chest under the broken bridge
  • When you are ready to move on head into the blue teleport and lets continue our journey to Coparann
  • We will once again get stopped, this time at a prison. There is only the one loot container here where you can find a Diamond, 1GP, Magnificent Dagger and a Primed Scimitar
  • When you are done here lets continue on.. Our final stop before Coparann will be at a caravan
  • Here you will find a bunch of merchants, who for now at least, will not cooperate with you. It seems that something is troubling them. If you inspect the place even more you will encounter a fight against a DarkWeaver
  • After fending off the bandits, the merchants will now cooperate and you can now purchase any goods you wish from them
  • When you are done with any necessary shopping we can now leave and head for Coparann, finally…
  • Coparann is the next major town after Caer Cyflen, it will basically feature new shops, quests and more. Anyway once you arrive speak to the Coparann Guard until Joris Nikannen arrives
  • Now that the introductions are over you will probably have noticed a certain side quest pop up, its a simple one really. New locations require new introductions after all but you can find a guide for it here Visit the Local Scavenger HQ
  • Feel free to explore the town, get your bearings and everything. You can find Wilf Warmhearth to the left of the Coparann entrance, give him the letter to complete the optional objective
  • Then when you are ready to continue the story, head into the building with the boards outside of it in order to find a man named Ceannard
  • You will now be tasked with trying to find clues on other people’s opinions regarding Sergeant Nikannen, due to a possible Sorak spy amongst the townsfolk. There will be a total of 5 clues to find, thankfully they are all marked on the map (well most of them anyway). The first set of clues will be marked, you will need to talk to the ones currently on the map in order to trigger the last remaining clues. They include; The Bartender, Citizen, Wilf Warmhearth (after dealing with them, the following people will then show on the map) Maid
  • Now the fifth and final clue (or the fourth clue going by the journal) will unfortunately be the only one not to be marked on the map and it took me quite a while to find them. However, if you head to the map screen and locate Joris Nikannen then the group of citizens you need to talk to can be found to the West of him
  • After collecting all of the clues it is time to go and pay Sergeant Nikannen a visit, he is marked on the map.
  • We will now be tasked with going to meet with the Baron. The Baron’s located through the gate next to the Coparann Guard and by the citizens that you spoke to in order to obtain clue 4. Basically to the West of your current location, then follow the steps up and to the Baron
  • After the scene will will learn that the Baron is a bit of a bully and won’t let us gain access to Kythaela’s belongings. Time to report back to Sergeant Nikannen
  • We will now need to rest until tomorrow when we can try again with the Baron, so either rest at the nearby Tavern or the campfire just outside of town.
  • The following day head back to the Keep and to the Baron. This time by letting him know that we are Legacy Council deputies the Baron will now have a change of heart and we will then find ourselves in the basement.
  • This basement is rather short and linear but feel free to search the area (remember the ‘ALT’ key in order to bring up anything of potential interest). Then once you are done head into the large room for a fight against the Baron, it was a trap all along. Notice how the Baron’s name changes from Baron Gromnir to Sorak Infiltrator during combat hmm..
  • After successfully rescuing the real Baron you will once again come across these magical stone puzzles that we need to solve. A solution to which can be found here or in the video above
  • After the next scene you can find a loot container which has a Handy Haversack inside which basically increases your inventory by a multiplier of x1.8
  • After locating the Major Gate go ahead and speak to the Baron back at the keep, he will thank you for helping him and you will be rewarded with Principality of Masgarth +10
  • Okay its time to find the gem! Start by heading to the world map as we have a new location to explore. You can also unlock the side quest Bitterroot’s Treasure Map and continue Arwin Merton’s Story. Anyway regardless of that we need to head to the Master’s Fortress
  • Here at the Master’s Fortress continue along the path heading towards the Main Alley, making sure to get rid of the greenery which happens to be blocking our way from time to time. You will now be attacked by a bunch of Wolves.
  • Remember to hold the ‘ALT’ key in order to navigate your way through the area and to find anything of particular interest that you may miss. Continue on and you will then find yourself fighting yet more Tiger Drakes
  • After dealing with the Tiger Drakes you should come across a set of steps, continue up them to reach the Platform and find the third and final set of magical stone puzzles that need solving. Once again for the solution either check out the video above or you can go here
  • Feel free to loot anything in the tower and once you are ready step on the elevator in the middle of the room. We will now find ourselves in a rather linear hall with what look like ghosts, spooky.. You can only go the one way as the other side is blocked, so head down the hall with the various rooms, one of which will be locked but if you look inside there will be a treasure chest hmm..
  • If you read the plaque on the side of the locked room it will read ‘Laboratory. ENTRY STRICTLY PROHIBITED’ but we want the chest inside here, there has to be a way inside. Actually there is and it is quite simple, opposite the Laboratory will be what looks like a Library room
  • In this Library you should notice a blue ghost looking at the bookcase, if you hold the ‘ALT’ key you should notice that he is looking at a specific book. Inspect this book to activate a switch and unlock the door to the laboratory.
  • As soon as you enter the laboratory you will immediately be attacked by a bunch of blue ghosts (Spectral Servant), they are resistant to melee damage so if you have a Mage with you then great!
  • As for the treasure chest that has a trap on it so make sure to disarm it before opening it. Inside you will find a Magic Weapon Request (Faction Relic), Purple Amber (Ingredient) and a Wardenblade (Crafting Recipe)
  • Once you are done inspecting the other rooms we can continue the quest. If you again (I know I keep saying it but the ‘ALT’ key is such a godsend in this game) anyway head to the statues at the end of the hall and hit the ‘ALT’ key in order to notice that one of these statues is holding something, click on this item it is holding in order to unlock the door here
  • Head through the now open door to confront our final fight in the quest. Strangely enough you don’t have to defeat Razan in order to progress. I managed to kill one of the Broods and the scene then triggered and the fight was over. Not killing Razan here will unlock a side quest known as Shadow of the Defiler
  • Anyway after the fight the quest will then end

QUEST LOG

  • GEM QUEST: THE MONASTERY
  • You arrived at the location of the Crown’s signal, and found the ruins of a Tirmarian monastery
  • EXPLORE THE RUINS
  • You are close to the origin of the signal that the crownbearer feels. Find out what this is about
  • You found a Solastan mausoleum and figured you needed to find out what was inside it
  • INSPECT THE STRUCTURE
  • Inspect the elvish structure near the Solastan building; it might be a magical puzzle of sorts
  • You discovered a strange set of stones that looks like a magical mechanism; probably designed to provide entry to the mausoleum
  • WAIT FOR THE MOON
  • Apparently, you need the moon to shine in order to use this magical device. Wait until then. You can rest or sit on the bench nearby to wait
  • You waited until the moon was in the sky and the magical stones were illuminated. You need to solve the magical puzzle while the moon is shining on the stones
  • SOLVE THE PUZZLE
  • Down in the ancient mausoleum, you have found an elf woman named Kythaela, who seems to have been asleep since before the Cataclysm. Her memories seem confused, but she knows the Crown and might be able to lead you to one of the gems
  • FIND THE COPPER VALE OF REMEMBRANCE
  • Escort Kythaela to Coparann and use every opportunity to help her recover her memories
  • While travelling with Kythaela, you cam across a Manacalon ruin that she remembered, but its not the place she is looking for
  • THE ORACLE
  • Whilst travelling with Kythaela, you found the ruins of a Manacalon oracle. She seemed to remember the place. Search it for any information regarding the Crown – but be careful, as Orcs seemed to have settled nearby.
  • You visited an old imperial Oracle but didn’t find anything useful about the Crown, so you went on your way. Kythaela seemed very confused. Will she ever return to her former self?
  • THE PRISON
  • Kythaela asked you to stop at another Manacalon ruin – apparently some kind of prison. Again, check to see if there is any useful information inside
  • EXPLORE THE AREA
  • You came across a merchant caravan – a rare thing in the Marches. Find out who’s in charge.
  • You helped caravan master Galar Goldentongue to fend off a couple of bandits. Now he’s asked you to take the news of someone’s death to Coparann
  • REACH COPARANN
  • Despite the events at the caravan camp, you main goal is still to follow Kythaela and find out if she can lead you to one of the Crown’s gems. Continue to Coparann
  • RETURN BELONGINGS
  • You have brought the dead soldier’s belongings to Coparann. Give them to Sergeant Nikannen as Galar Goldentongue asked.
  • DELIVER LETTER (OPTIONAL)
  • Galar Goldentongue asked you to take a letter to Wilf Warmhearth in Coparann.
  • You delivered the letter to Wilf Warmhearth as Galar asked
  • TALK TO THE CEANNARD
  • Talk to the Ceannard at Coparann
  • You gained the Ceannard’s trust and learned that the Sorr-Akkath may have infiltrated Coparann
  • FIND THE FIFTH CLUE
  • Listen, observe, and find out if something’s wrong in Coparann. Try talking to the storekeeper
  • Wilf Warmhearth the storekeeper told you a strange story. The Baron threw a gang of bandits in jail, instead of just hanging them as usual.
  • FIND THE FOURTH CLUE
  • Listen, observe, and find out if something’s wrong in Coparann. Try the townspeople chatting around the keep
  • Your heard the townspeople discussing the recent lack of contact between the Baron and the Ceannard, despite their close friendship
  • FIND THE THIRD CLUE
  • Listen, observe, and find out if something’s wrong in Coparann. Try the caravan merchants
  • You heard a merchant speak of a client who can’t come to collect a wedding ring he ordered because he’s been assigned to guard duty the whole week
  • FIND THE SECOND CLUE
  • Listen, observe, and find out if something’s wrong in Coparann. Try the tavern’s staff
  • You heard the tavern’s owner complaining that the Baron has started keeping his soldiers away from the tavern
  • FIND THE FIRST CLUE
  • Listen, observe, and find out if something’s wrong in Coparann. Start with the tavern’s customers.
  • You heard the barmaid complaining about her boyfriend ignoring her
  • FIND SERGEANT NIKANNEN
  • Tell the Sergeant what you learned during your walk around town
  • Nikannen seems to share your fears, and told you that the Baron’s behaviour has changed a lot lately
  • MEET THE BARON
  • Meet the Baron and see how he reacts
  • The Baron has rejected Kythaela’s request and threatened you
  • GO BACK TO SERGEANT NIKANNEN
  • Nikannen is certain that the Baron is an impostor of some kind
  • TAKE A LONG REST
  • Follow Nikannen’s plan and wait until tomorrow before talking to the Baron. Spend the night at the Tavern, or outside of the town if you prefer.
  • GO TO THE BASEMENT
  • Kythaela’s belongings are in the basement of the keep. Go down there and find them.
  • The ‘Baron’ turned out to be a Sorak and trapped you in the basement of the fortress. You defeated him and his pawns, and saved the real Baron
  • FREE THE REAL BARON
  • The real Baron is somewhere in the cells. Release him.
  • You have freed the real Baron!
  • CHECK OUT THE IMPERIAL DOOR
  • In the secret room in the basement, near Kythaela’s belongings, you saw a magnificent door of high imperial style. Check out what’s on the other side
  • GO TO THE THRONE ROOM
  • You have accomplished what you came for, now go to see the Ceannard in the throne room before resuming your quest for the gems.
  • FIND THE GEM’S LOCATION
  • Follow Kythaela in her search for the gem’s location
  • You have reached the foot of a hill with a large tower in the distance. This could be the right place
  • EXPLORE THE SURROUNDINGS
  • Explore the area around the hill to see if this is the place you are looking for
  • FIND A WAY TO ENTER THE TOWER
  • Activate the correct stones to open the tower doors
  • ENTER THE TOWER
  • Get inside the tower before more broods attack you
  • FIND THE GEM
  • Visit the tower to find Kythaela’s master and hopefully one of the Crown’s gems.
  • You have found the master of Kythaela, who holds the gem.
  • KILL THE DEFILER
  • Razan is no longer a threat. You met Adrasteia, Master of Abjuration, who entrusted you with the gem.
