A Guide To Star Wars Outlaws Hacking

Star Wars Outlaws

Star Wars Outlaws hacking is a game feature that allows Kay to access terminals. Hacking or slicing requires the player to solve a puzzle.

How Star Wars Outlaws Hacking Works

Star Wars Outlaws hacking is all about finding the right series of glyphs. It starts as a game of chance with clues helping you find the correct order.

Star Wars Outlaws Hacking Mechanics

The slicing interface shows two glyph panels. The goal is to select the glyphs on the left panel and place them in the correct order on the right panel. It sounds simple enough, but there’s a catch. There is a limited number of attempts. Should you run out of tries, you fail. The good news is that after each failed attempt, you get a clue.

How to Decipher the Star Wars Outlaws Hacking Clues

The clues are color-coded. Glyphs will turn blue, yellow, or red when placed on the right panel. Here is the meaning of the colors.

Blue – Success. The glyph is correctly placed.

Yellow – Wrong placement. The glyph is part of the sequence, but it is not in the right spot.

Red – Incorrect glyph. The glyph is not part of the sequence.

If the glyph turns blue or red, you don’t need to do anything. Leave it in its place if it’s blue and don’t use it anymore if it’s red. Should the glyph turn yellow, swap its position until you get the right spot.

Star Wars Outlaws Hacking Advanced Terminals

Advanced terminals are more challenging to hack. The mechanics remain the same, however, the number of glyphs increases. The sequence is longer and the glyph pool is larger. On the bright side, the number of attempts is also more generous.

Kay can hack advanced terminals after she completes the Slicer Expert quest. This quest unlocks Aila Bren as the Slicer Expert NPC. You will come across the mission while working on the main story on Toshara.

Aila has the Slice Kit Upgrade ability that comes in handy when dealing with advanced terminals by providing better clues. A failed attempt will highlight more red glyphs. The ability also unlocks slicing subroutines that make it easier to hack regular and advanced terminals. Subroutines are basically cheats.

Swap Glyps for Numbers

You can replace the glyph symbols with numbers. Some players find it more intuitive this way. The mechanics remain the same.

Get Aila’s Help

Unlock The Slicer Expert NPC as soon as you can. Aila Bren is a valuable assistant. Hacking becomes significantly easier once you have access to her abilities. Kay can break into vaults for desirable loot, not just quest items.

Ignore the Connected Glyphs

Left glyphs will sometimes be connected by lines. Aila’s upgrade allows you to see glyphs connected with the ones that don’t fit the pattern, so you can rule them out without wasting a try.

Get More Tries

You can make slicing easier by increasing the number of attempts. The Gameplay section in the Settings menu has an option to increase or decrease the number of tries.

Turn Star Wars Outlaws Hacking Off

You can completely remove hacking from the game. Go to the Settings menu and find the Gameplay section. There is an option that allows players to switch off hacking, so they won’t have to worry about it ever again.
