The Outer Worlds 2 – Should You Support Alva Or Svoboda? Missable Companion

Siding with Alva or Svoboda is a decision you will have to make during the On the Trail of the Traitor, which is one of The Outer Worlds 2 main story quests. Someone attacked Auntie’s Choice and your job is to discover the wrongdoer. This particular quest also features a missable companion

Should You Help Alva or Svoboda in The Outer Worlds 2?

As part of the main story quest On the Trail of the Traitor, you will travel to Zyranium Manufactory VII and start the mandatory side quest Beginning at the Endpoint. Someone dropped a Zyranium bomb on Auntie’s Choice. Proctor Svododa is accusing Initiate Alva, but Alva denies it and asks you to further investigate the case.

The Outer Worlds 2 Beginning at the Endpoint Investigation

Start the investigation by talking to Alva. She grants you access to the Records Repository. Follow the quest marker to reach the objective location and examine the Printed Back-Up Records. Return to Alva and tell her about the weird smell. The investigation will now lead to the Refinement Logistics and Central Processing. Start with the Refinement Logistics location and talk to Initiate Doubleday. Move to Central Processing and speak to Archivist Conkling. Return to Alva and Metadier and beware that this conversation is the point of no return in the Beginning at the End side quest. Your dialogue choice will determine if you side with Alva or Svoboda.

How to Side With Initiate Alva

To side with Alva, you must choose the option ““I say we force the Proctor to reveal who she’s working with. With or without your help” or “So do I. And I haven’t seen enough proof to determine who is guilty or innocent here”.

How to Side With Proctor Svoboda

To side with Svoboda, you must choose the option “Enough lies! I’m not buying any of this, Marisol”.

Beginning at the Endpoint Conclusions

At this point, it’s still not quite clear who launched the attack. The truth will be revealed after you pick a side at the end of the Beginning at the Endpoint side quest.

Side With Alva – Missable Companion

If you choose to help Alva/Marisol, she will kill Svoboda. You unlock Alva as a companion and gain access to the Toxic Effluvium Repository secret room. You also learn important information about Abbott Newell. A later conversation with Alva proves her innocence. 

Side With Svoboda

If you pick Svoboda, Alva becomes hostile and you must kill her. Svoboda will then tell you about the Toxic Effluvium Repository room and later in the game you find out that Proctor Svoboda was the real culprit.

As you can see, picking Alva is the right choice. Not only do you gain a companion, but you also discover who was behind the attack.
