How to Start and Complete Imprisoned by the Riddles of Reality Side Quest in The Outer Worlds 2

Follow the main story quest, On the Trail of the Traitor, and arrive at the Alexandra Monastery. From the courtyard, take the left entrance. Make a right after the first door and continue right. You will find yourself in front of a microphone through which you can talk to the two Anchorites.

Talk to the two NPCs and agree to find the books for them. Before leaving the area, interact with the two-sided drawer on the left and collect The Essential History of Mechanized Doors.

How to Find the Books in Alexandra Monastery in The Outer Worlds 2

Leave the room and make a right. Take the third entrance on the right and continue right to reach the Bathhouse Circuit Breaker. This is where the book you’ve collected comes in handy. Interact with the Circuit Breaker and use the book to redirect the power.

Now, follow the main quest objective and complete the interaction with Seer Landon Wiley. The optional objective to save the hostages, as part of the main quest, will be added to your quest log. Feel free to ignore it for now and continue the search for the books. The hostages remain alive until you enter Wiley’s observatory.

Only Real Numbers: The Casualties of Appeasement by Exemplar Kuang Location

Take the door on the right, the one under the Be a Hero sign, and go up the stairs.

Enter the room on the left, take the stairs up, and make a right. Take the second door, go left, and enter the crawlspace.

As you exit the crawlspace, you will find the Only Real Numbers: The Casualties of Appeasement book on a desk on the left.

Open the door next to the desk where you found the Only Real Numbers: The Casualties of Appeasement book. If you cannot unjam the door, pull the lever next to it. Enter the room and jump down. Take the stairs down and you will reach the hostage area. Enter the door on the left, located under the Betray Your Values sign. Go up the stairs, turn right, and look left.

Use the two ledges to go up. Make a left and collect the Archivist Maler’s Dissertation on Deescalation Theory book from the desk.

Should You Side With Anchoress Brun or Anchoress Chao?

Return to the Anchorhold and place the books in the drawer. The two Anchorites will have a dispute. You must pick a side to end the Imprisoned by the Riddles of Reality side quest.

The reward is based on your answer:

• If you side with Anchoress Brun, you receive the Sawed-Off Heavy Machine Gun.
• If you side with Anchoress Chao, you receive the Repellent Awakened Seer Robes.

Other than the reward, the choice doesn’t have any other consequences, so you are free to pick based on the item you like the most.
