What is the Best Starter Weapon for you in Where Winds Meet

Where Winds Meet

Where Winds Meet has a flexible combat system, allowing you to weave together various martial arts and mystic arts however you want to defeat enemies. Luckily for beginners, there are several starter weapons to choose from, and they are easy to obtain early on. After submitting oddities to Qisheng, he will allow you to choose one free weapon from four options: Panacea Fan, Thundercry Blade, Infernal Twinblades, and Vernal Umbrella.

If you still have no idea what to choose, here’s a quick guide.

How to pick the best starter weapon in Where Winds Meet

After speaking to Qisheng, an NPC located at General Shrine and submitting at least a number of oddities, you can receive a free weapon from him. It can be either Panacea Fan, Thundercry Blade, Infernal Twinblades and Vernal Umbrella. Now, this gives you four more options other than Nameless Sword and Nameless Spear.

Best Starter Weapon Infernal Twinblades Where Winds Meet

Panacea Fan – Best Starter Weapon

Panacea Fan is a healing weapon that provides a steady healing in an area that lasts for a few seconds. Especially if you’re a beginner, this weapon allows you to survive easily when fighting enemies and bosses as healing in the game is pretty limited. In addition, you can also revive a teammate using this fan. Easily one of the best weapons to pick up. The only downside of picking this weapon is, you can easily get this early on by using Skill Theft on a nearby dungeon in Qinghe.

Infernal Twinblade

If you’re into fast-paced combat and high DPS, you can go for the Infernal Twinblades instead. The Infernal Twinblades allow you to wield two weapons, letting you dish out continuous damage through a series of combos. This weapon, however, falls under the same category as the Nameless Sword and Nameless Spear, so the decision ultimately boils down to whether you prefer this weapon’s animations and attack patterns over the other options.

To add to it, the Infernal Twinblade weapon can be obtained in Qinghe region, so you can get this faster than Vernal Umbrella and Thundercry Blade, which you can only get in Kaifeng region.

Thundercry Blade

Moving on to the third option, Thundercry Blade is a tank weapon. If you’re a player who likes fast attacks, this weapon may not be for you. Compared to the other melee weapons, the Thundercry Blade features slow and heavy, yet hardhitting attacks. In addition to that, players can gain shields, damage reduction, and interruption resistance. Less beginner-friendly weapon compared to other choices.

This particular weapon is also available later using Skill Theft from the Well of Heaven

Vernal Umbrella

Much like Thundercry Blade, the Vernal Umbrella can only be obtained once you’re in Kaifeng which means you’ll have to finish the chapter 1 of the main story first. It can take a while, so if you’re really eager to get the Umbrella, you can pick this instead as your best starter weapon in Where Winds Meet.

Vernal Umbrella is a ranged DPS weapon that lets you shoot flower petals to deal damage. It’s a good weapon if you’re the type of player who’s into attacking enemies from afar. It has an ability that immobilizes that enemy, and one that tosses umbrellas in the air, dealing damage to enemies within an area. For the latter, you can swap to another weapon or the hidden sword while the umbrella is active.

The bottom line is, no matter what starting weapon you choose to go with you are not limited to your choice. You can easily switch weapons later as all of them can be found in later areas
