In today’s guide, we’re covering Ys: The Oath in Felghana How to Defeat Galbalan. Who is also known as Galbalan, the Sinister Marauder From Afar. The final boss of the game. Since this is quite a formidable boss, it’s recommended that you reach at least Level 50 before facing him. There are multiple phases to this battle. Read on to learn more about Galbalan’s attack pattern and how to defeat him.
Galbalan’s Attack Pattern
During the first phase of the fight, Galbalan will start off by sending a stream of fire at you. This is easy to avoid by jumping out of the way. Next, the boss attacks with multiple fireballs, which can be dodged or you can use the Terra Bracelet to deflect the attacks.
Once Galbalan’s eye opens, he attacks with his arms and drags them across the battle area. You can jump over them to dodge them. After that, the boss attacks with lasers. If you time your jumps right then you can avoid them. In a more powerful attack, Galbalan will slam into the arena and create shards of ice on impact. He pulls back before this, giving you time to get away or use your Terra Bracelet.
During the third phase, Galbalan throws a large orb at you. Hit this orb back and forth until it gets Galbalan and does damage. The boss will also create more projectiles and a vortex that will suck you in. Avoid the vortex or you’ll lose a massive amount of health.
How to Defeat Galbalan
To defeat Galbalan, make sure you’re at Level 50 and that you’ve upgraded all your weapons and armor. Prior to the fight, get the Talisman of War and buy the Spirit Necklace and Katol Elixirs as they will come in handy.
To deal damage during the first phase of the fight, jump onto one of the ice platforms when they rise and use the Ignist Bracelet to shoot fireballs at the glowing diamond in the middle of the boss’s head. Once you do this, its eye will appear at the bottom and you can now aim for it. During the battle, you can also use the Terra Bracelet to negate incoming damage.
At one point, Galbalan will steal your MP and it won’t regenerate until later, forcing you to rely on physical attacks. As always, you can use Double Boost to restore your health. Once your MP comes back, continue attacking the eye.
