It’s recommended that you are at least between Levels 45-50 before you fight Garland. He is a formidable boss with a lot of HP. Read on to learn more about Garland’s attack pattern and how to defeat him.
Garland’s Attack Pattern
Garland has a decent amount of attacks that only get stronger throughout the battle. He’ll start off by shooting lightning bolts that do minimal damage before summoning a gust of wind. The wind will push you away and regenerate this shield. While his shield is intact, he can summon a scythe that will either appear low to the ground or high in the air. If it’s high in the air, keep to the ground, and if it’s low, jump over it.
Garland also has a simple sword attack that’s easy to dodge. He’ll summon a ball of light to chase you around and you can either run until it disappears or use the Terra Bracelet to destroy it. When his HP gets low, he’ll suddenly fly at you three or four times. These attacks are easy to avoid by sidestepping them. In his most dangerous attack, he’ll create a vortex that pulls you in. If you get stuck in it, he will attack and you can’t block.
In a final attempt to kill you when he reaches low HP, he will explode, dealing damage if you’re close enough so keep an eye out for that.
How to Defeat Garland
To defeat Garland, make sure to upgrade all your weapons and armor and at least reach Level 45 before facing him. A shield surrounds him at the start of the fight, but a few hits from your sword will destroy it. It’ll reappear occasionally and you can destroy it the same way. Utilize the Ignis Bracelet and shoot fireballs at him. If you ever get pulled into the vortex, you can use Boost to heal yourself.
