In this Black Myth: Wukong Keeper of the Flaming Mountains Boss guide, we’re going over how to defeat this Yaoguai King. Keeper of the Flaming Mountains can be found in Chapter 5 near the Emerald Hall Keeper’s Shrine. He is one of the main bosses and you must fight him to progress the story. The Keeper of the Flaming Mountains summons the Yin-Yang Fish near the end of the fight, so this is a 2-in-1 boss battle.
The Battle Against Keeper of the Flaming Mountain
In the fight against the Keeper of the Flaming Mountain, your companion, Zhu Bajie, is there to help. He starts off with a teleporting attack. Dodge to the side right when he disappears. He’ll also fly up into the air and shoot projectiles. The moment he begins to float, get ready to run.
When he comes back down to the ground, immobilize him and use a Pluck of Many spell. His health diminishes pretty quickly. When under pressure, he’ll teleport away but you can use Cloud Step to follow.
When he has about half health, he floats into the air and summons a mix of enemies with bows and melee weapons. Defeat the archers first, since one good charged attack kills them, so you don’t have to worry about dodging their arrows. Then take care of the ones with melee weapons. The Keeper will reappear after they’re defeated. Keep wearing down his health.
The Battle Against Yin-Yang Fish
When the Keeper reaches low health, he summons the Yin-Yang fish, a giant fish you have to battle. Zhu Bajie isn’t there to help anymore. The fish will fly into the air and shoot projectiles at you. Run and dodge to avoid these. When attacking it, it can hit you with its tail. It lifts its head towards you, which is your cue to dodge.
When it’s howling, use this opportunity to attack. Be careful, because once it stops it’ll roll towards you and run you over. It howls for about 7 seconds, so count to 6 then get out of the way. It also has another projectile attack where it blows water, which is easy to dodge by running to the side.
Its more powerful attacks include splitting into many parts, obscuring your view, before charging you. Start running to the side once your view is obscured. It also goes into the air and sends multiple projectiles after you. Wait until you see them coming your way, don’t waste your stamina just yet, and then start running. If you run out of stamina too early, they’ll all hit you and kill you.
