Collectables in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Chapter 3
Congrats! You’ve made it through the first large open area of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and beaten Midgarsormr. Now Cloud and the gang have followed three robed figures into the Mythrill mines, what adventures await and more importantly, what collectables?
After no doubt spending hours exploring Kalm, the grasslands, and swamplands I’m happy to inform you that Chapter 3 is a much shorter chapter. Taking after Chapter 1, it is a linear experience. No intels or side quests in sight. Just get from A to B, keep exploring those nooks in the mini-map and beat the boss and you’re unlikely to miss anything between the start and end of this chapter.
If you’ve gotten to this point without clearing everything in chapter 2, Don’t worry! There is a later point in the game where you will be able to go back and forth to older areas to clean up everything you missed. However, it is recommended that you do this before chapter 12. Here in chapter 3, however, we don’t need to worry about it.
The collectibles you can expect in this area are materia, weapons and accessories.

MATERIA – AP UP
WHAT IT DOES: Raises the max AP of the equipped character
HOW TO AQUIRE: After a cutscene where the part splits into two parts. You’ll be following Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith. You’ll will find two crawler, enemies. Beat them and after you’ll travel a narrow walkway. You’ll find the AP UP after that, just before a ladder.
Weapon – Sylph Gloves
WHAT IT DOES: A weapon for Tifa with the ability ‘Reverse Gale’ that launches enemies into the air and the brings the crashing down with a wind attack. (Full DMC juggling time)
HOW TO AQUIRE: Once you’ve picked up the AP UP head down the ladder and you’ll be faced with some more enemies. Once you have beaten them, you’ll be free to open up the chest next to the ladder to proceed.
Weapon – Renegade’s Collar
WHAT IT DOES: The Renegade’s Collar is a weapon for Red XIII which grands the ability Crescent Claw. This ability slashes at an enemy and can be made more powerful in Vengeance mode, however it depletes its gauge to use.
HOW TO AQUIRE: At a certain point, the POV will switch to Barret and Red XIII who separated from the group some time ago. When you swap, you’ll soon find a rest stop and next to it, there will be a chest with the Renegade’s Collar inside.
And just to give you an idea of how small this chapter is, you’re already halfway through all the collectables in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Chapter 3.
Materia – MP UP
WHAT IT DOES: Raises the max MP of the equipped character
HOW TO AQUIRE: After continuing from the rest stop, you’ll want to hug the cave’s southern wall. This will lead you to a nook on the southwest side. Climb up a staircase of rocks to obtain the MP UP Materia.
Accessory – Bullet Proof Vest
WHAT IT DOES: The same as the Bulletproof vests you can buy in the shops it increases the vitality of the equipped character by 5%. However, this one didn’t cost you 800 gil.
HOW TO AQUIRE: Just before the objective ‘so close yet so far’ you’ll find a mine cart on a rail. It can go ones of two ways, one way to the objective and one to a chest. Obviously, we want the chest before we move on. Head to the lever near the split and make sure the cart will be taken left. After that push, the cart so that it’s in position to hop up and grab the Bullet Proof Vest from the chest.
Materia – Lightning
WHAT IT DOES: Allows equipped character to use the Lightning Magic Line
HOW TO AQUIRE: This one is very obvious. Once Tifa and Aerith open a gate for you, you’ll see it on the other side.
