The “High Seas Heist” quest in Skull and Bones is given by Captain Spurlock after completing several of his other quests. When giving it to you, he mentions that the ship in question is meant to be carrying tons of loot, amounting to 10x the amount he usually sends to New York. Your task is to find this ship, the Royal Louis, and sink it to take all of its goods for Spurlock.

Finding the Royal Louis
Finding the Royal Louis is the easiest part of this quest. It’s location will be marked on the map in the area beyond Lanitra and Palisade Bay.
Once you uncover the Islands of the Moon, travel a little further on to see fireworks in the sky. Follow these fireworks to find the Royal Louis. Once it spots you, it’ll begin running away. You’ll need to follow behind it for now.
Sinking the Royal Louis
The most difficult thing about sinking the Royal Louis is dealing with the ambush it leads you into. At this point in the game, you will most likely still be using the Bedar. I found this quest easiest to do after getting the La Forteresse ship armor you get from increasing your infamy to, as it helps you use the Bedar to its fullest potential.
While chasing the Royal Louis to the ambush, you’ll want to shoot it a few times to get some damage done. When the ambush begins, however, you’ll need to focus on the smaller ships firing on you before taking down the Royal Louis. Ramming the Bedar into these ships and causing them to develop the “flooded” status is the most efficient way of taking them down. The damage sustained from the “flooded” status should be enough to get them low enough to easily finish off with a few cannonballs. Once they’re out of the picture, it’s the Royal Louis’ turn.
Like with the smaller ships, you’ll want to ram the Royal Louis with your Bedar to give it the “flooded” status. You may have to do so a few times over the course of the fight, so make sure to have multiple repair kits on hand. Aim for its weak spots highlighted in red when firing your cannons to do as much damage as possible. Sinking it will begin the final part of the “High Seas Heist” quest—finding the hidden treasure of Caradec.
Using Caradec’s Map to Find His Treasure
As per usual, the “High Seas Heist” contract was never as simple as sinking the Royal Louis. Instead of treasure, the Royal Louis carries a map reading “Your job is simple. Kill the bastard and his crew. Succeed, and you will be rewarded handsomely. Travel to the Reef Sea, Red Isle, then head to the Royal Burial Ground outpost for your reward.”
Just like in our “Relics of the Past” Treasure Map guide, we’ll break down the details of this guide to help you find the treasure.
Written Hint on the Caradec Map
The written hint on the map explains the general area the Royal Burial Ground can be found in. The Red Isle area is the large area consisting of Sainte-Anne and the nearby settlements.
The Reef Sea is the area within the Red Isle that you need to head to. On the map, it is about 5,000 meters south of the area you find the Royal Louis in. You’ve most likely not traveled to this area yet, so the map will only show the name “Reef Sea” and white fog. Begin by setting your marker for this sea and sailing away.
Drawn Location on the Map
Once you get to the Reef Sea, there will be a small island on the right with a medium factionless shipwreck. From that shipwreck, had directly east towards the mainland. This will send you slightly to the right of an unknown location. Hold “S” to disembark and discover the Royal Burial Ground.
Finding the Buried Treasure
From the boat, follow the directions below to get to the turtle inscribed on the rock matching the image on the upper right corner of the map.
- Head as far left as possible. The path will be lit with torches and have a rocky overhang.
- Follow that path until you come to the lantern next to a puddle of water. There will be a path ahead and one to the right, as well as a set of stairs to the left.
- Head up the stairs.
- Go straight past the cooking pot and follow the sandy path past the crate of Bombard Bombs.
- Follow the path for a few more meters. You will see the turtle carving glowing on the rock as well as a small light shining from the ground where the treasure is buried.
Press “F” to dig up the treasure chest. This will give you a few items, including the “Letter of Marque” and “Caradec’s Bounty”. It will also end the Skull and Bones “High Seas Heist” quest, giving you its rewards.
