After completing the “A Pirate’s Deal” quest at the beginning of Skull and Bones, the Pirate Chief Officer laughs in your face and refuses to tell you the path to Sainte-Anne. However, he is “kind” enough to give you a small hint by saying that “Captain Rassler’s bloated corpse might know the way.”
How to Enter the Exeter in Skull and Bones
Pressing “X” tells you that your next goal is to find a way inside of the Exeter. Leave the Chief Pirate Officer behind and board your dhow to set sail for the Exeter. The wreck is directly in front of the island, so press “W” and set sail. The compass at the top of the screen will show the quest icon as well as a lighthouse-looking structure, confirming that you are going the right way.
Once your dhow is in the area between the two halves of the ship, you’ll see that the quest symbol and the lighthouse-looking symbol are both on the right half of the ship. This part of the ship will also be labeled “The Exeter Shipwreck”. Sail your ship right next to this half of the wreckage.
If you have not completed the “A Pirate’s Deal” quest, you will get a message stating that you need a crowbar for entry. If you have completed the quest, you can use the crowbar obtained from it to force the door open by pressing “F”.
To force the door open, you have to play a short mini-game. The goal is to click the left mouse button when the crowbar enters the green area, but it is okay to press it in the yellow area as well. If you click the button when the crowbar is in the black area or allow the crowbar to reach the other end of the puzzle, you lose a life. When you lose three, you have to start the mini-game over.
Once the mini-game is completed, press and hold the “S” key to enter what’s left of the Exeter.
Where to Find Captain Rassler’s Body on the Exeter
After entering the Exeter, go up the stairs in front of you. Follow the pathway up the ramp, passed a row of cannons, and up a second set of stairs. This leads you into a hallway with a grand door on the right.
A journal can be found on the right side of the hallway near some smashed barrels. It can be picked up and read by using “F”.
Stand near the door, pressing “F” to enter it. It will lead you into Captain Rassler’s quarters, where his body sits at the desk. You’ll enter a short cutscene where you grab a few items off of the desk. This will give you three items:
- The coordinates of Sainte-Anne
- A map of the Indian Ocean
- A letter from Captain Scurlock
The completion of the cutscene returns you to the hallway. Your active quest will change to “Escape the forsaken Atolls and set sail for Sainte-Anne”. Leave the ship the way you came, pressing “F” at the door to return to your drow.
How to Escape the Atolls and Set Sail for Sainte-Anne
To set sail for Sainte-Anne, move your Dhow between the wreckage of the Exeter towards the island the Pirate Chief Officer is on. Once you pass the Exeter, you’ll see a golden beam of light to the right of the island.
Head in the direction of that beam of light, sailing passed the hungry sharks and rocks. Once you’ve gone far enough, the game will fade into more cutscenes. Control of your character will be returned to you after landing at Sainte-Anne.
