How to Craft a Bedar in Skull and Bones

Game Guides Skull and Bones

After crafting tools with the Craftsman and bringing the Shipwright eight Acacia wood, you’ll be able to accept the quest “A Seaworthy Ship”. In this quest, you’ll gather all of the supplies needed to craft a Rammer ship, which is also referred to by its class name, Bedar.

What is a Bedar Good for in Skull and Bones

As implied by its true name, the Rammer, a Bedar is good for ramming targets and doing plenty of damage. This comes in part from it’s perk, Lancer, which not only increases the damage done by ramming but gives rammed ships the “Flooded” status.

It is described by the Shipwright as “favoring an aggressive playstyle”, so it’s the perfect ship for those who want to cause some mayhem.

Crafting a Bedar in Skull and Bones

In total, the Bedar requires 360 coins plus different amounts of three materials:

  • 20 Jute
  • 10 Acaci
  • 8 Bog Iron

Once you have all of the materials, speak to the Shipwright with the Bedar selected. Press and hold the space bar to confirm the purchase. This will send you into a cutscene about the ship being built. Afterward, the Shipwright will send you to the Blacksmith to get cannons made. You can set sail without them, but you’ll find yourself in a pickle if anything hostile comes by.

When it comes to the three required materials, we have already discussed finding and harvesting Acacia in its own guide. However, we’ll cover harvesting Bog Iron and Jute below for those struggling to find either.

How to Harvest Jute in Skull and Bones

On the map, which can be opened by pressing “M”, Lute is represented by a small, yellow leafy plant. Right click on it to mark it and begin sailing across the sea towards it.

Once you’ve stopped your ship close enough to the Lute on shore, you can press “F” to enter the harvesting mini-game. In this version of it, the scythe moves down an image of grass with yellow, green, and black sections. Like with the previous, letting the scythe hit the bottom or clicking while it is in a black section loses a life. To gather the most Lute, click the left mouse button while the scythe is on the green space every time.

Depending on how they were harvested previously, players can potentially harvest a few patches of Lute at once.

How to Harvest Bog Iron in Skull and Bones

To find Bog Iron deposits, press “M” to open up the map. The symbol for bog iron looks like a small pile of rust-colored minerals. I was only shown two deposits near Sainte-Anne, so it seems to be a rarer material than the other two.

Hovering your mouse over it labels it as “Bog Iron”. Right click on it to mark it on your map and screen.

I chose to harvest the Bog Iron deposit at the back of Sainte-Anne’s island, as the one at the front had already been depleted. Bog Iron can be found at the bottom edge of the cliffs, the deposits a mix of blue and grey. They also sparkle, which makes them easier to find. While only one specific deposit was mentioned on the map, I found multiple deposits on the nearby cliffs.

Harvesting the Bog Iron requires a mini-game just like harvesting Acacia or Lute. It’s somewhat easier because the pickaxe swings more slowly and the yellow and green areas cover the majority of the game. However, the ease of the mini-game is balanced by the fact that each deposit can only take three hits from the pickaxe before breaking. To get the most iron, you’ll want to do a few deposits in a row, left-clicking the green area on each one.
