After attacking the Citadel for the first time, Homeworld 3 players must finish the job and defeat the Warsage to progress further. I’ll guide you through both finishing the Citadel and defeating the Warsage in this Homeworld 3 guide.
How to Complete the Warsage Citadel Mission in Homeworld 3
This mission is the hardest yet in Homeworld 3 because you are directly within Incarnate territory. The first goal of the mission is to destroy the seven designated Ship Ports in the Citadel. There will be three on the left and four on the right. Don’t worry too much about memorizing their locations since they will be openly marked in-game.

Mission Preparation
Personally, I began by using the “paused” mode of the game to take the time to move all of my ships. This is because the Ship Ports will continuously produce new Incarnate ships, including Carriers and Destroyers, as long as they are standing. Delegating ships with the game slowed will give you more time to strategize before the big guns come charging in.

As always, start by sending your Resource Controllers off to gather materials. The resource spots directly to the left and the right of the Mothership are relatively safe, so you won’t need to worry about escorting the Resource Controllers at those locations. If you want to send them further, you’ll need to provide an escort.

You’ll also want to begin sending groups of ships to attack the explosives next to the Ship Bays. I started by sending one group to the lower left bay and one to the upper left bay on the left side. I also sent a group to the upper right bay and placed Support Frigates in the area to heal ships. Be careful as this right Bay will be quickly surrounded by Anti-Strikecraft Turrets, ships, and even a Carrier.

At this time, I sent my Carrier closer to the right side with the four loading bays. I sent most of the ships I had not used with it, with the remaining few staying close to my Mothership for protection. I placed a few turrets here as well. However, they could be saved to place around the wall with four bays if you’d prefer.

With all of this done, I exited the pause menu and watched my ships take flight.

Completing the Objectives for Mission 9
After this preparation, a lot of what you will do depends on how and where the enemy ships spawn. In my game, all of the Carriers and Destroyers spawned on the left side of the wall with four bays. After clearing the first three bays, I moved over to that wall and blew up the remaining four bays from right to left.

Make sure to take out Carriers and do research as soon as it pops up. You’ll particularly want the Torpedo Frigate to help deal with the Warsage at the end of this mission. I’d recommend building plenty of them to use against him and any produced Carriers and Destroyers.

Destroying Carriers should be a priority particularly because they will produce Capture Frigates, which will turn your ships into Incarnate ships. If a ship becomes captured, destroy the Capture Frigate before it reaches an Incarnate Carrier to free the ship and its crew.
Control Towers
At one point in the mission, you’ll be given the secondary objective of capturing two Control Bay towers. However, I highly recommend leaving these towers alone until after you’ve destroyed the final Ship Bay and the bigger ships. There is no time limit, so there’s no need to rush and risk your ships when you can play slowly.

Once these Control Bay Towers have been captured, the Warsage’s Battlecruiser will travel through hyperspace into the area. This cutscene will mark the start of your battle against him.
The Fight Against the Warsage in Homeworld 3
Fortunately, the fight against the Warsage isn’t as difficult as the process of destroying the bays. The hardest part of the fight for me was just waiting for my ships to reach the area he was at. The Warsage appears toward the top of the Citadel, and surprisingly isn’t accompanied by a lot of troops. He will only have a few Missile Frigates, turrets, and other ships around him that you’ll need to deal with properly.

The strategy that worked best for me was using my Torpedo Frigates to take out the stronger troops and turrets near the Battlecruiser first. Afterward, I set them to attack the Battlecruiser directly while my remaining troops fought the other enemies to keep them away from my Torpedo Frigates. Any ships without an immediate task should be set to fire at the Battlecruiser as well.

As soon as the Warsage’s Battlecruiser is defeated, the remaining enemies will flee. This marks the end of the ninth mission and your battle with the Warsage. It will also give you the “As They Have Hunted Us” achievement.
