Marvel Cosmic Invasion Dark Phoenix Boss Fight Guide
One of the three Marvel Cosmic Invasion challenges in the Full Moon of the Insectoids level is to defeat the Dark Phoenix as Wolverine. The game suggests teaming with Nova and that’s what you should do. The duo is equipped with everything you need to win the Marvel Cosmic Invasion Dark Phoenix fight. Don’t forget to swap to Wolverine for the final blow to unlock the challenge. It’s perfectly doable to defeat the boss just by playing with Wolverine if you don’t want to switch characters.
Dark Phoenix Fight Strategy and Attack Moves
No matter what heroes you bring for this encounter, dealing with Jean Grey’s attack patterns is the key to winning the fight. The fight has two phases.
Shield
The boss puts up a shield. Hit her from behind when the shield is up.
Exploding Bubble
Jean Grey releases an exploding bubble that knocks you down. Move away when you see the boss putting her hands to her temples.
Projectile Attack
The Dark Phoenix shoots projectiles that grow larger and explode. Get behind the boss when you see her extending one hand in either direction.
Phoenix Attack
Similar to the projectile attack, the boss sends flaming mini-phoenix birds that knock you down. The cue for this attack is the boss extending both hands.
Flaming Phoenix
The boss transforms into a flaming phoenix, crossing the battle arena from one side to another. Quickly move behind her. After this attack, the Marvel Cosmic Invasion Dark Phoenix fight transitions into Phase 2. She will use this move throughout Phase 2.
Adds
In Phase 2, two types of adds come to help the Dark Phoenix. Ground adds appear at the marked locations on the floor. Flying adds come from one side of the screen.
Phase 2 continues with all the attacks from Phase 1 until the boss is down.
