In today’s guide, we’re covering Monster Hunter Wilds (MHWI) Werner’s Test Run Side Quest. This optional quest unlocks after you complete Chapter 4 – 3 Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns. You can pick it up from Wener in the Ruins of Wyveria Base Camp. The objective for Werner’s Test Run is to help Wener test one of his prototype traps on the Guardian Doshaguma. Read on to learn how to hunt and defeat the Guardian Doshaguma and how to use the trap.
Picking Up the Werner’s Test Run Quest
To begin the side quest Werner’s Test Run, speak to Wener at Ruins of Wyveria Base Camp after completing Chapter 4 – 3 Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns. He’ll mention a new prototype trap and ask you to hunt a Guardian Doshaguma. This quest is an optional quest, so you’ll have to stop by Alma’s Quest Counter and select Werner’s Test Run to start the quest.
Use the Trap on the Guardian Doshaguma
Once you’ve accepted the quest, you can select the Departure Point option to go directly to a specific area or select the Quick Start option. Quick Start is the easiest. The Guardian Doshaguma will appear on your map. You have an optional objective to lure the monster to Werner so he can use his trap. You can use Lure Pods to lure the creature over to Werner.
Werner’s explosive, which looks like a barrel, appears in the middle of the battlefield. Stand next to it. When the Guardian Doshaguma swings at you, dodge. It’ll hit the explosive instead. This will cause the barrel to explode with each hit, dealing damage.
How to Defeat the Guardian Doshaguma
Now that you’ve gotten the optional objective out of the way and dealt some damage to the Guardian Doshaguma, you still have to defeat it. Its weak point is its forelegs and it’s also weak to ice. Weapons with severing do more damage than the other types. Remember these things as you look for openings and avoid the Guardian Doshaguma’s explosive attack.
