In this article, we’re covering All Endings in the Silent Hill 2 Remake. There are a total of eight endings which change based on the choices you make. There are two new endings added to the New Game Plus endings for the remake.
Original Endings
During your first playthrough of the Silent Hill 2 Remake, there are three possible endings. In the first ending, called Leave
LEAVE ENDING
SUMMARY: James leaves Silent Hill with Laura.
HOW TO UNLOCK THE ENDING: To get this ending, do not inspect Angela’s knife, examine Mary’s letter and photo multiple times, make sure your health doesn’t stay in the red for a long time, and avoid actions that’ll trigger the other endings. We’ll talk about those triggers below with the other endings.
IN WATER ENDING
SUMMARY: In this ending, James takes his own life
HOW TO UNLOCK THE ENDING: To get this ending, pretty much do the exact opposite of the Leave ending. Make sure to examine Angela’s knife, don’t look at Mary’s letter and photo, and let your health stay in the red for a long time.
MARIA ENDING
SUMMARY: In the third ending, Maria, James chooses Maria.
HOW TO UNLOCK THE ENDING: There are multiple requirements for this ending. Avoid inspecting both Angela’s knife and Mary’s photo and letter. Do not hit Maria and stay close to her, approaching her when she calls you and checking on her. Do what she wants you to do.
New Game Plus Endings
There are three New Game Plus endings that require you to first beat the game and then replay it. The first ending, Rebirth, alludes to James trying to revive Mary.
REBIRTH (NEW GAME+)
SUMMARY: Alludes to James trying to revive Mary.
HOW TO UNLOCK: To get this ending, find four books called Crimson Ceremony, White Chrism, Obsidian Goblet, and Lost Memories.
UFO (NEW GAME+ ENDING)
SUMMARY: James Sunderland meets Harry Mason (Black and White Pictures)
HOW TO UNLOCK: For the UFO ending, find the Blue Gem in the Jeweller’s Store, on the Sual Apartments rooftop, on a pier by Toluca Lake, on a dock by Lakeview Hotel, and in room 312 at Lakeview Hotel.
DOG (NEW GAME+ ENDING)
SUMMARY: In this ending, James discovers that a dog is the mastermind behind the horrors of Silent Hill.
HOW TO UNLOCK: For the third New Game Plus ending, called Dog, you have to get all three original endings. This requires you to play the game three times. To get this ending, you need to collect two broken key parts. One is found at the Pet Center and another by a home at the corner of Katz and Lindsey Street. Combine the key parts. After that, go to the Observation Room at Lakeview Hotel.
New Silent Hill 2 Remake Endings
There are two new endings added to the New Games Plus endings for the Silent Hill 2 Remake. They are called Stillness and Bliss. Stillness is an alternative to the In Water ending. James speaks to Mary in his car, overcoming his guilt. To get this ending, you need to:
- Retrieve the Key of Sorrow.
- Unlock the safe at the Manager’s Office in Lakeview Hotel Otherworld with the Key of Sorrow.
- Use code 314 on the safe.
- Get the Toluca Lake postcard.
In the second new ending, Bliss, James drinks a hallucinogenic and sees a peaceful ending. To get this ending, you must:
- Find the Rusted Key in the Bow-o-Rama Safe.
- Use the Rusted Key to open the chest in the Brookhaven Hospital and get the White Claudia.
- Drink the White Claudia in room 312.
