The Silent Hill 2 Remake Flesh Lip encounter is the first challenging boss battle. This tough enemy changes tactics throughout the fight, so you need to adapt your approach as well. Before engaging Flesh Lip, make sure that you have obtained all collectibles, as this instance of Brookhaven Hospital will be forever sealed off after you take down the boss.
Silent Hill 2 Remake Flesh Lip – The Ceiling Phase
In this first phase, the boss will move through the ceiling. Its main strategy is to break through the ceiling plates attempting to hit you with its cage. Watch the tiles and when they begin to shake move out to avoid being crushed.
You can damage the boss while it is moving, but that’s not very efficient. The attack strategy here is to wait for the boss to drop from the ceiling. It will not move for a short while. However, the cage acts as a shield and you’ll just be wasting bullets if you aim for its body. Instead of targeting the body, focus on the limbs. Do some damage until the boss becomes active again and climbs back on the ceiling. Do this a few times and eventually the boss will lose its cage and stretch out metallic limbs. The fight will enter the second phase.
The Boss – Ground Phase
In phase two, the boss is no longer in the ceiling. It will come on the ground and start chasing you. It will use its limbs for different attacks, such as frontal attacks and quick spin moves. The arms are quite long and they can stretch covering the better part of the area.
The most important thing in this phase is to dodge the attacks. Don’t get close to the boss. Instead, opt for ranged attacks. You should have enough ammo if you didn’t waste it in the first phase. Flesh Lip’s body is still protected by metal, so you should aim for its exposed parts. If you run out of ammo, wait for an opportune moment to go near the boss, hit it, and quickly run away. Keep your distance throughout the fight.
As phase two progresses, Flesh Lip will return to the ceiling for a while. It will attempt to position above you and drop down for a devastating attack. This move does a lot of damage. Keep moving and keep an eye on its location, as one crush can mean the end of James. Watch out for this new attack as you continue damaging the boss with your weapon.
The recommendation is to stock up on ammo and HP consumables before the fight. Luckily, you will find plenty of ammo, HP drinks, and syringes in Brookhaven Hospital. The shotgun is more powerful than the handgun, making it the preferred weapon for this fight. As soon as Flesh Lip is dead, this chapter will end and James will proceed to the next area.
