Slay the Spire 2 is a roguelike deckbuilder game, where you craft unique decks and defeat creatures across several stages, all while attempting to survive. You’ll start with a character with their respective starting decks, and relics. Of course, when you’ve just started, you can only use one character out of four.
But if you want to unlock every character there is, you’ve found the right guide. Here’s how to unlock all characters in Slay the Spire 2.
All Slay the Spire 2 characters and how to unlock them
Slay the Spire 2 has five characters: The Ironclad, The Silent, The Regent, The Necrobinder, and the Defect.
The Ironclad
The Ironclad is the first character you’ll get to use in Slay the Spire 2. Ironclad’s unlocked by default, and you’ll get to use him right off the bat.

Ironclad is a returning character in Slay the Spire 2. His main schtick is all about manipulating his HP.
His starting relic is Burning Blood, which heals him 6HP at the end of the combat
The Silent
After finishing a run with Ironclad, you’ll get to unlock The Silent right away.

The Silent is the hardest agent to use in Slay the Spire 2, and playing her means bombarding enemies with cards.
The Huntress’ Starting Relic is the Ring of Snake, giving her two additional cards per combat.
The Regent
Next is Regent. Like the former, The Regent is unlocked after finishing a run using The Silent.

The Regent is a new character in the Slay of the Spire 2. As for his playstyle, he uses another resource called Stars. Meanwhile, he can summon Sovereign Blade, and increase its damage using Forge.
The Regent’s starting relic is Divine Right, which gives him three stars at the start of each combat.
The Necrobinder
Players can unlock the Necrobinder, by playing the Regent.

Second new character in Slay the Spire 2. In combat, he summons Osty. Osty can deal and take damage for Necrobinder, and be further improved to become more tanky and deal more damage. Necrobinder has a fun mechanic as well, which allows him to apply Doom, executing enemies upon reaching a certain HP threshold.
Necrobinder’s starting relic is Bound Phylactery, which Summons Osty at the start of every turn.
The Defect
Lastly, players can unlock the Defect by once again, finishing a run with the Necrobinder.

The Defect is a character that utilizes several orbs; he can channel it or evoke it to either deal damage, single-target or AoE, dish out burst damage or protect himself.
The Defect’s starting relic is Cracked Core, which allows him to channel 1 Lightning.

Great guide! It’s incredibly helpful to have the starting relics listed like this. I loved seeing that the Ironclad begins with Burning Blood to heal after combat. Since relics define your strategy so heavily, having a clear tier list is essential for optimizing every run. Can’t wait to try unlocking the Regent with Divine Right!
