Act 1 of Slay The Spire 2 features a variety of bosses, each appearing at the end of a run with distinct HP pools and mechanics. One of them is the Ceremonial Beast, a tank, two-phase boss that shifts its mechanics as the fight progresses.
Here’s how to defeat the Ceremonial Beast in Slay the Spire 2.
How to Defeat the Ceremonial Beast in Slay the Spire 2
The Ceremonial Beast is a 252 HP (solo) boss with two phases. In the first phase, it steadily gains Strength, while in the second phase, it begins applying the Ringing status.
First Phase
At the start of the fight, the boss gains Plow. Once its HP drops to 150, Plow triggers and stuns the Ceremonial Beast for a turn. It won’t attack during this window, making it the perfect opportunity to set up, stack buffs, apply debuffs, or push in extra damage.
For the second turn, it will attack and continue to increase its Strength. This will continue until you reach the health threshold. During this stage, you must block all of its attacks while making sure to deal as much damage as you can.
Second Phase
After reaching the threshold, it will cancel its attack and stun the beast, preventing it from acting. Use this opportunity to unleash your remaining damaging attacks and chip away at its health.
On its next turn, it will apply the “Ringing” debuff while also attacking. When this debuff is active, you are limited to playing only one card per turn. Since it will continue to deal significant damage during this phase, prioritize using block cards to mitigate incoming attacks.
From this point onwards, the Ceremonial Beast will alternate between applying Ringing, and attacking.
Because of this, it’s best to deal as much damage as possible during the first phase while still blocking its attacks. Leaving it with too much HP going into the second phase means enduring more turns of Ringing and increased damage, making the fight significantly harder.
