The Kin is one of the six Act 1 bosses in Slay the Spire 2. Unlike other bosses, The Kin spawns two minions that deal increasing amounts of damage. Leave them alive, and they’ll chip away at your health.
Here’s how to defeat The Kin in Slay the Spire 2.
How to Beat The Kin in Slay the Spire 2?
The Kin is an Act 1 Overgrowth boss in Slay the Spire 2.

The Kin Priest has 190 HP. You may notice that it has slightly less HP than other bosses. This is because the Kin boss fight involves fighting its minions: Kin Followers. Both have 58 and 59 HP.

The smaller minions have 1/3 of the health of The Kin Priest, but they deal quite a lot of damage when left alive. These followers revolve around these three cycles:

- Quick Slash: Deals 5 damage.
- Boomerang: Deals 2 damage x2
- Power Dance: Gains 2 Strength
The first minion starts the cycle with Power Dance, while the other begins with Quick Slash. These minions will attack almost alternately, and the longer they stay alive, the more strength they will gain.

Meanwhile, the Kin Priest is much tankier. It will make you more vulnerable to damage, and make you deal less damage.
- Deals 8 damage. Applies 1 Frail.
- Deals 8 damage. Applies 1 Weak.
- Deals 3 damage x3
- Gains 2 Strength
Its attack pattern is quite similar to the followers. It continues to deal damage but gains Strength by the end of the cycle. Moreover, it applies Frail, which causes you to gain 25% less Block from cards, and Weak, which makes your attacks deal 25% less damage.
This means that as the fight drags on, your strength diminishes while their attacks become more powerful.
So what’s the best strategy when fighting Slay the Spire 2 The Kin boss?
You have two options: Kill the followers first, or kill the priest.
Generally speaking, taking out the followers first will make your run easier. They have much less HP than the priest, making them easier to kill. In addition, ignoring them means taking all the damage they’ll be dealing.
However, if you can deal high burst damage and kill the Priest within two to three turns, go for it. Killing the Kin Priest gets rid of the followers, automatically ending the boss fight.
