The First Berserker: Khazan Reese – How To Unlock The Faded Memories Trophy

The First Berserker: Khazan Reese is the 15th boss. You will face her during the main quest, Bloodied Sanctuary. Defeating Ozma’s companion unlocks The Faded Memories trophy. Let’s see what you must do to kill her and earn the achievement!

The First Berserker: Khazan Reese – How to Defeat The Priestess of Pell Los

Reese combines spells with magic attacks. The recommendation is to use the greatsword for this fight. Invest points in counterattack, so you can easily deal with her burst attack. Chaos-resistant armor is also preferred for this fight. The encounter has three phases.

The First Berserker: Khazan Reese Human Form – Phase 1

The fight begins with Reese in her human form. Her melee attacks are less devastating than her ranged projectile attacks, but you should still aim to dodge them. Make sure to counter her Burst Attack and she will take considerable damage.

In Phase 1, Reese uses the following attacks:

• Melee Attacks.
• Projectile Attacks.
• Magic Wall Attack.
• Purple AOE Attack.

Melee Attacks

Reese uses her wings for a sweep attack. This is a slow move that does a lot of damage. She can also grab you if she uses both wings at the same time. You should dodge as soon as she extends her wings. She can also do a small AOE attack with a sword of light.

Projectile Attacks

The boss flies across the battle area and spawns three orbs above her. A beam will appear out of each orb and come towards you. You will also hear a sound when this happens. Multiple orbs spawn and fire beams at you. Run to the other side as soon as you see an orb spawning. The boss twirls into the air and summons a giant projectile creating a massive AOE. Go as far from her as possible while she is charging this spell and dodge to the side.

Magic Wall Attack

The boss creates two energy walls that trap all the projectiles in between them. Don’t get walled in and keep moving so you don’t get cornered as the boss can summon multiple sets of walls.

Purple AOE Attack

She summons a large purple AOE puddle under your feet that explodes when she raises her staff. This attack happens twice in a row and it may be followed by a third puddle directly under her. Move out of the first two puddles and be ready to move again.

Demon Form – Phase 2

Phase 2 begins after you kill her human form. In this phase, you will have to deal with all the attacks from Phase 1, plus new ones. Make a priority out of countering the Brink Attack to create an opportunity to deal damage. In this phase, the boss is more aggressive due to her new scythe-based attacks. Aim to use your Brink Guard instead of dodging.

In Phase 2, Reese uses the following attacks:

• Three-Hit Scythe-Combo.
• Five-Hit Scythe Combo.
• Scythe Lunge.
• Projectile Attacks.
• Four-Hit Wing Combo.

Three-Hit Scythe-Combo

The combo consists of a slash, a spinning slash, and a charge attack. If you are having trouble Brink Guarding it, use dodge instead.

Five-Hit Scythe Combo

This combo consists of five scythe slashes. Pay attention to her raising the scythe, as this signifies the start of the attack. She comes at you with a combination of slashes and charges. You can Brink Guard these attacks and attack after.

Scythe Lunge

Resee will lunge at you with her scythe opening with two slashes. She then retreats and repeats the attack. You should Brink Guard the last hit.

Projectile Attacks

Reese raises into the air and throws projectiles at you. You can Brink Guard these attacks and inflict stamina damage.

Four-Hit Wing Combo

She quickly attacks with each wing and repeats the attack after a very short time.

Phase 3

The last phase begins when the boss is around 40% HP. You will see Reese charging the scythe and teleporting to your location. In this phase, you will have to deal with most of the attacks and combos you’ve seen so far and also with teleport attacks.

Teleport and AOE Attacks

The boss blinks to your location and does a scythe swipe. She teleports away and returns to perform two slashes. The boss repeats this last move twice, before going into the air and casting an AOE around her. Brink Guard the attacks and move away when she starts going up.
