Directions to the Tiger’s Acolyte

Take the Valley of Despair shrine in Sandgate Village.
Advance through the Hamlet area heading towards the Windrest Hamlet shrine.
Defeat the foes on the first bridge.
Continue to reach a second bridge.
Spot the Tiger’s Acolyte on the second bridge.

Defeat him and you will obtain the Old Rattle-Drum and Tiger’s Acolyte spirit.

Black Myth Wukong Old Rattle-Drum First Location

Black Myth Wukong Old Rattle-Drum: Step 1 – Use the Old Rattle-Drum at Three Locations

Sun Wukong must use the item in three locations to discover the lair of the Mad Tiger. The locations are:

Windrest Hamlet.
Valley of Despair.
Sandgate Village.

Windrest Hamlet – First Location

Travel to the Windrest Hamlet shrine.
Take the road opposite from the shrine leading to the Windrest Bridge shrine.
When you come across the gate at the base of the hill, make a left.
Go to the small square surrounded by walls.
Walk around until you trigger the cue letting you know you have arrived at the correct spot.
When the screen starts flashing black and white and you hear the child talking, you should use the drum.

Valley of Despair – Second Location

Travel to the Valley of Despair shrine.
Open the gate using the Sterness of Stone and Keeness of Tiger.
Notice the small house on the right.
Go under the house and arrive at a yard.
The child will speak to you again and you should use the Old Rattle-Drum.

Sandgate Village – Third Location

Travel to the Sandgate Village Entrance shrine.
Go through the gate that opens the area with the Earth Wolf boss.
Spot the post where the horse man was.
Take the path on the left side of the post.
You will arrive at a well.
Use the Old Rattle-Drum and follow the boy into the well.

Descend into the well and you will encounter the Mad Tiger boss.

Black Myth Wukong Old Rattle-Drum – Step 2: Defeat the Mad Tiger

The Mad Tiger is Tiger Vanguard‘s brother. He is a challenging boss who uses many attacks. Learning his moves and spotting the cues are essential to win this fight. If you feel like you are not ready, leave the area and come back after acquiring better gear.

Mad Tiger’s Attack Moves

Leap and landing blow. This is usually the opener. The Mad Tiger leaps at Sun Wukong and performs a slashing attack as he lands.
Side feint. The boss delivers an uppercut and changes directions for the next attack.
Twist jump. The Mad Tiger does a twisting aerial move and forcefully lands slamming his head into the ground.
Uppercut combo. An uppercut followed by a strike followed by a claw swipe.
Punch combo. A downward punch followed by spinning claw swipes followed by a rising swipe with a back leap.
Race combo. The boss will run after you and close in the distance with a claw strike followed by two upward hits, two quick down punches, and a slam.
Fast strike. The boss does two quick hits.
Roar. Make sure to be as far as possible from the boss when he begins yelling and avoid the falling stones.

At the end of this long and hard fight, Sun Wukong will receive the Mad Tiger Spirit along with other valuable items. Make sure to loot the chest for the Plaguebane Gourd.
