The Black Myth Wukong secret ending, or the true ending, is an alternative game conclusion reached by those who go out of their way to complete extra tasks and defeat optional bosses.
Secret/True Ending Requirements:
- Get access to the secret Chapter 1, 2, 4, and 5 areas.
- Complete the Treasure Hunter quest.
- Defeat the Stone Monkey and the Great Sage’s Broken Shell on Mount Huaguo.
- Defeat Erlang Shen and the Four Heavenly Kings on Mount Mei.
- Overpower the Stone Monkey and the Great Sage’s Broken Shell once more.
Black Myth Wukong Secret Ending Requirements: Step 1 – Unlocking the Secret Areas
Each Chapter of the game hides a secret area. Sun Wukong must complete side quests and fight optional bosses to access these areas.
Black Myth Wukong Chapter 1 Secret Area
To access the first secret area, Sun Wukong must complete the Three Bells quest. The task requires finding and ringing the three bells.
First Bell Location – Forest of Wolves.
Second Bell Location – Bamboo Grove.
Third Bell Location – Marsh of the White Mist.
After ringing them all, you get teleported to the Ancient Guanyin Temple and fight against Elder Jinchi.
Black Myth Wukong Chapter 2 Secret Area
The second secret area opens its gates after players complete the Drunken Boar’s Quest. You must obtain some items for the drunken pig and eventually fight him.
Black Myth Wukong Chapter 4 Secret Area
In Chapter 4, players must find and defeat the Venom Daoist twice. The first time, you find him in the Webbed Hollow. The second encounter is in the Temple of the Yellow Flowers.
Black Myth Wukong Chapter 5 Secret Area
The secret area in Chapter 5 becomes accessible after players complete the Five Element Carts quest. For this quest, Sun Wukong must defeat several bosses.
Pale-Axe Stalwart – You will come across this boss while working on the main mission. Defeat him to start the quest.
Brown-Iron Cart – Take the stairs up from the Pale-Axe Stalwart and you will encounter the second boss.
Gray-Bronze Cart – This is another main story boss.
Crimson-Silver Cart – Continue on the path after The Emerald Hall fight to reach this boss.
Rusty-Cold Cart – This enemy is near the Cooling Slope shrine.
Black Myth Wukong Secret Ending Requirements: Step 2 – Complete the Treasure Hunter Quest
This is a Chapter 3 quest that unlocks after finding the Treasure Hunter NPC. Throughout the quest, the NPC changes locations. The quest concludes when Sun Wukong finds the Melon Field shrine and fights the Green-Capped Martialartist.
How to Start the Treasure Hunter Quest
- Travel to the North Shore of the Bitter Lake shrine.
- With the water on the left and the shrine on the right, walk along the beach.
- Reach the red gate and defeat the enemies.
- Interact with the Treasure Hunter.
Black Myth Wukong Secret Ending Requirements: Step 3 – Fight the Stone Monkey and the Great Sage’s Broken Shell on Mount Huaguo
The duo is the last encounter on Mount Huaguo. To find them, go to the area with the Son of Stones boss.
Directions to The Stone Monkey and Great Sage’s Broken Shell
- Use Somersault Cloud to go into the forest.
- Spot the waterfall on the left.
- Follow the path behind the waterfall and you will meet the last two bosses.
Black Myth Wukong Secret Ending Requirements: Step 4 – Journey to Mount Mei
Return to the New West after defeating the Stone Monkey and Great Sage’s Broken Shell on Mount Huaguo. Discover the Great Pagoda and talk to the NPC to travel to Mount Mei.
The First Fight Against Erlang Shen
This secret boss poses quite a challenge. Spells do not affect on him. His stance bar mitigates most of the damage. Shen fights with multiple weapons making him a worthy opponent.
The Four Heavenly Kings Encounter
After taking down Shen for the first time, he morphs into his beast form and calls the Four Heavenly Kings to his aid. Sun Wukong assumes the Stone Monkey form which makes the fight way easier.
The Second Fight Against Erlang Shen
Once the Four Heavenly Kings are down, Erlang Shen comes back for round two. The Stone Monkey transformation is still active, so the fight is not as difficult as the first time.
Black Myth Wukong Secret Ending Requirements: Step 5 – Return to Mount Huaguo
Once Shen and the Four Heavenly Kings are down for good, it’s time to head back to Mount Huaguo. Sun Wukong will face the Stone Monkey and the Great Sage’s Broken Shell duo once more. After defeating them, a cutscene will reveal the true Black Myth Wukong ending.
