The Venom Daoist is an optional boss, so you won’t run into him while completing the campaign. Sun Wukong meets him for the first time in the Webbed Hollow. The second fight occurs in the cave below the Temple of the Yellow Flowers.

Here is what you need to do to find the Venom Daoist. Advance to the point in the story where you defeat the Second Sister. She is the first boss of Chapter 4. You will find her in the Village of Lanxi near the Estate of the Zhu. After the Second Sister is defeated, follow these instructions to reach the Venom Daoist.

How to Find the Venom Daoist

Reach the Upper Hollow by plunging into the hole after the fight with the Second Sister.
Take the slope up leading to the Upper Hollow shrine.
Find the path marked with a torch behind the shrine.
Go right along the path.
Drop down at the end of the path.
Spot the rock surrounded by white eggs in the room where you’ve landed.
Drop down once again and take a right.
Continue until you see the broken wooden bridge marked by a torch.
Turn to the right and drop down from the bridge.
You will land on a path with white eggs.
Continue on the path taking you to the left. The eggs will spawn creatures as you walk past them.
Reach the next room and go through the gap in the rocks on the right.
Go left when you see the massive web and advance on the path with the eggs.
Walk into the next room and take the stairs up.
Take the right path.
Advance to the top and spot a branch marked by a torch on the left.
Follow the path taking you to the right until you reach the Pool of Shattered Jade shrine.
Make a right and follow the path leading to a large spider egg.

How to Defeat the Venom Daoist

When you approach the big spider egg, you will notice that it has a name and an HP bar. Destroy the Old Cocoon to spawn the Venom Daoist.

Despite its menacing look, the Venom Daoist won’t give you much trouble. Use the Pluck of Many and Cloud Step spells. Immobilize the boss and attack with a fast combo. The Wandering Wight spirit attack is recommended for this fight. Survive until the boss gives up. Before retreating, he tells you there’s going to be a rematch.

Continue with the Black Myth Wukong campaign until you get to the Temple of the Yellow Flowers and unlock the Temple Entrance shrine.

Where to Find the Venom Daoist Again

Enter the door on the left side of the shrine.
Take the stairs up and enter through the door at the top to reach a courtyard with a big tree.
Make a left and continue across the water.
Climb up the two flights of stairs.
Walk along the path with the tree at the end.
When you reach the tree, make a right.
Go through the construction taking the stairs and slope up.
Make a left at the end of the slope.
Take the stairs up.
Spot the gap on the left when you reach the top of the stairs.
Go through the gap and take the road down leading into a cave.
Continue towards the middle of the cave and you will come across the Venom Daoist.

The Second Fight Against the Venom Daoist

Engage the Venom Daoist in combat and damage him to about 50% HP. A cutscene will follow and the encounter will enter the second phase. The boss is once again at full HP. However, he takes longer to recover after attacks.

Sun Wukong can use the same strategy to defeat the boss once more. If you run out of mana in phase two, use Immobilize to interrupt the boss and make sure to dodge when he attacks with the sword.

Overpower the boss and he will let you in on a secret. A wall will appear allowing you to step into the Purple Cloud Mountain.
