Borderlands 4 Shadowpelt – How To Defeat The Invisible Boss

Borderlands 4

Borderlands 4 Shadowpelt is an optional boss that drops legendary loot. Players can farm this mighty enemy for valuable drops using Moxxi’s Big Encore machine.

Let’s see what you must do to defeat Shadowpelt!

Where to Find Shadowpelt in Borderlands 4

Borderlands 4 Shadowpelt Location

The Shadowpelt boss is in the Whistler’s Maw Abandoned Auger Mine in Cuspid Climb, Terminus Range. To enter Whistler’s Maw, you need to complete the Shadow of the Mountain main mission in Terminus Range. After unlocking the location, travel to the entrance and follow the linear path inside the cave, defeating or avoiding the enemies along the way. When you reach the vent, pull it out and enter the crawlspace. Just before the boss arena, you can use the ammo and medic machines to restock for the fight. Moxxi’s Big Encore machine is nearby. Pay $30000 to unlock the fight. If the boss is the Weekly Big Encore, you can pay an extra 100 Eridium to make the fight more challenging and the rewards better.

Borderlands 4 Shadowpelt Boss Guide

The boss has three attack patterns and one particular mechanic that makes the fight annoying. He uses a shield that makes him invisible and immune to any kind of damage. So, your priority is to take down the shield.

How to Remove the Invisibility Shield

Borderlands 4 Shadowpelt Shield

Notice the blue bar above the boss’s HP bar. You need to destroy the shield to make the enemy visible. Any weapon works, but you should use one that causes shock damage. Energy shields are vulnerable to shock damage, meaning you will disable the shield faster. The shield is on at the start of the fight, so equip a shock weapon from the beginning. The shield will reactivate and you will need to switch weapons when this happens. Spotting the boss while he is invisible is the tricky part. You can sometimes see his outline, but the best way is to notice the attacks.

Shadowpelt Attack Moves and Strategy

The boss uses the following attacks:

  • Electric Orb. The boss charges an orb and throws it at your location. Wait until the boss launches the sphere and move far away from the landing spot, as it does AOE damage.
  • Orb Wave. The boss shoots multiple orbs that spread in a circular pattern around him. Move away and stand between the orbs to avoid damage.
  • Shock Wave. The boss sends a single shock wave, which you can avoid by jumping over it or moving away.

Notice the direction from which the attacks come to find the boss’s location when he is invisible. Once the shield is down, the boss is visible and vulnerable for about 15 seconds. Use incendiary damage, as this works best against him. He will move very fast, so keep up with him. When the shield is back up, repeat the strategy until the boss is down.

Legendary Drops

Shadowpelt’s loot table includes three legendary items, however, the drops are not guaranteed. You may need to defeat the enemy a couple of times to get all the items. Defeating the boss for the first time rewards you with SDU tokens and XP.
