Code Vein 2 Franz the Dejected Assailant Encounter Guide

Franz is an optional but important boss. You must kill him to save Noah and make progress towards the secret game ending. Defeating him rewards you with the Superbia Bloodline Frantz blood code, the Shield of Stupor, and A Friend’s Wish trophy. The fight against the Code Vein 2 Dejected Assailant has two phases. In each phase, Franz uses various attack patterns. Recognizing these moves and learning how to avoid damage is the key to winning the fight.

Franz the Dejected Assailant Phase 1

Parrying is the most effective strategy to create an offensive opportunity. The Mutinous Bracers from Jadwiga’s minion in MagMell allow you to parry and stagger the boss. Focus on parrying and hit the boss with your R2 attack while he is staggered.

Charge Attack

The boss charges at you. Parry the attack, hit him a few times, and move back. The red glow surrounding the Dejected Assailant is the telegraph for this attack.

Projectile Attack

Code Vein 2 Franz uses his sword to shoot projectiles. Move in the opposite direction to avoid.

Sword Slash

The boss delivers two or three slashes with his sword. Dodge to avoid.

Energy Burst

Franz bursts with energy. Move away from him during this attack.

Code Vein 2 Dejected Assailant Phase 2

Phase 2 starts when the boss is around 50% HP. Notice that Franz now carries his head in his hand. He will use it to perform new attacks in addition to all Phase 1 attacks. The offensive strategy remains the same. Parry the Charge Attack and avoid all others.

Laser Attack

The boss shoots purple lasers from his head. Dodge the first laser and prepare to dodge the second coming from the opposite direction.

AOE Laser Attack

This variation of the laser attack covers a larger section of the arena. Move away from the affected area.

Leap Attack

Code Vein 2 Franz leaps to your location. Prepare to dodge when you see him crouching.

Slam Attack

The boss slams his hand into the ground, dealing AOE damage.

Slam and Drag Attack

Franz the Dejected Assailant slams his hand into the ground and drags it towards you. Move away.

Red Beam Attack

The boss raises a hand above his head in preparation for the attack. Get close as he gathers energy and dodge the beam. You can get behind the boss to avoid the beam hitting you.
