Data Retriever is a trophy achievement in Avatar Frontiers of Pandora which requires you to complete all recon retrievals. This guide will detail exactly how to complete these recon retrievals, where you can find each location, and what rewards you get for completing the achievement.

The only requirement for completing Data Retriever is that you complete all Recon Retrievals. These Retrievals involve you finding an enemy data terminal, and hacking it for its information. There are nine locations hidden around the map, and you need to complete everyone to complete the achievement.
For some reason, these ‘Recon’ retrievals will actually be marked as ‘Data’ retrievals on your map. It’s unclear why the developers chose to give the same thing two names because it just makes this achievement more confusing than it needs to be. Nevertheless, as long as you understand that data and recon retrievals are exactly the same, you shouldn’t run into any issues.
The Data Retriever achievement is worth 36 points/one silver trophy. It’s required for 100% game completion and is luckily unmissable. This means that, even after completing the story, you’ll have the opportunity to complete this achievement.
Terminal Locations
As you explore the map, you will begin to find different data retrieval locations. Thankfully, unlike other collectibles such as Kites, the exact location for these terminals will appear on your map after you explore the area. This makes it a whole lot easier to find each location and ultimately complete Data Retriever.
Nevertheless, the terminals can still be pretty tough to find, as they’re often tucked away in little corners. Plus, if you haven’t explored the right areas of the map, you won’t be aware of each location.
So, here are all nine terminal locations you need to find and hack to complete Data Retriever:
- Terminal One. Found next to the northeastern border of Kinglor Forest.
- Terminal Two. Found in Kinglor Forest, to the northwest of the Droplet Islands.
- Terminal Three. Found in the Clouded Forest, downstream of the Shadowed Cove.
- Terminal Four. Found in the Clouded forest, equidistant from the Weary Swamp and River of Ancestors.
- Terminal Five. Found next to the Stealth River in the Clouded Forest, South of the region’s map marker.
- Terminal Six. Found south of the Stone Sentinels area in the Clouded Forest. This is one of the hardest locations to get to for Data Retriever, as there’s a pretty big enemy base nearby.
- Terminal Seven. Found on the eastern side of the Upper Plains. It’s just behind the curved rocks pointing West.
- Terminal Eight. Located in the Upper Plains region. Just head up from Kefehar Falls and you should see it on the West side of the river.
- Terminal Nine. Located East of the Daguhter’s Pool. Just head north of the Daugther’s Stream.
How To Complete Data Retriever
Simply finding each terminal isn’t enough to complete Data Retriever- you also have to hack it. Luckily, this process is easier than you might expect.
As you approach each terminal, use your hacking tool to scan it. You can do this by pressing both triggers down simultaneously. After a short sequence, you’ll be prompted to find three of four antennas around the area. These won’t be any more than 25-35 meters from the location of the terminal. They’ll also make a buzzing noise which gets louder as you get closer to an antenna.
When you find an antenna, you’ll need to scan it using the same method as with the terminal. This will reward you with a Lost Item, as well as progress towards the data collection.
A good way to find the antenna quickly is to slowly circle your way out from the terminal, and follow the electrical sounds to guide you. When you find an antenna, go back to the terminal and repeat the process. This way, you’ll never get too far away from the terminal.
You can see how many antennae you need to scan for each terminal in the top left corner of your screen. After scanning all of them, you will complete the data retrieval.
Repeat this for every other terminal, and just like that, you will have completed Data Retriever!
