Tethered Kites is one of the harder achievements to unlock in Avatar Frontiers of Pandora. On its face, it seems pretty easy because all you need to do is pick up a few kites. However, actually finding these kites is an entirely different story. This guide will lay out each and every kite location needed to complete Tethered Kites, so you can work towards 100% game completion.

Collect All Windswept Kites
To complete Tethered Kites, you need to collect all Windswept Kites throughout the map. In total, there are nine to unlock. You can collect them in any order. Furthermore, this achievement is unmissable. So, even if you complete the story, you’ll be able to go back and pick this achievement up.
The Kites are bright orange, yellow or blue. However, despite their contrasting color with the environment, they’re very easy to miss. They’re also very small, which makes them even harder to locate.
Completing Tethered Kites will earn you 36 points/a silver trophy. It’s necessary to unlock if you want to 100% complete Avatar Frontiers of Pandora.
Beyond unlocking the Tethered Kites trophy achievements, you also need to collect all nine kites to complete the Wind Will Carry Us side quest. You will automatically start this quest when you collect the first kite. You can then finish it by returning the kites to their owner in the middle of the Circle HQ.
How to Complete Tethered Kites
Tethered Kites is much tricker to complete than other collectible-related trophy achievements because the locations of each kite aren’t shown on the minimap. Luckily though, all of the kites are found within either the Mother of Rivers or Shattered Bridge sub-regions of the Upper Plains. This does make things a little easier.
With that in mind, here are the locations of all nine kites needed to unlock the Tethered Kites achievement, grouped by their location.
Tethered Kites Locations in the Mother of Rivers Region
Three kites for Tethered Kites are located in the Mother of Rivers Region. They are:
- Spite Kite. Firstly, the Spite Kite can be found towards the north border of the Mother of Rivers. Head to the lake with the massive rock pointing to the West. You should find the kite right on the shoreline to the West.
- Transforming Kite. This Kite can be found in the center of the rock feature mentioned above. The surrounding rocks do cover it up well though. So you might not be able to see it from a distance.
- Storm Kite. The Storm Kite is found on the same rock as the transforming Kite. However, this one is located on the lower section to the East, right by the water.
Tethered Kites Locations in the Shattered Bridge Region
The final kites needed to complete Tethered Kites are located in the Shattered Bridge Region. They are:
- Spirit of the Clan Kite. You can find the Spirit of the Clan Kite on the Western Border of the Shattered Bridge region. It’s actually very close to the Storm Kite. So if you travel in pretty much a straight line from this kite, you should stumble across it within a few minutes of walking. However, it’s hard to see because of the surrounding environment.
- Flower Kite. You can find this tethered kite on a single tree pointing northwest in the Shattered Bridge Region. If you’re struggling to find it, try heading southwest from the northernmost enemy camp.
- Warning Kite. To find the Warning Kite, head directly North from the Heart Pierce River Waypoint to hte Bloodwing Trail. It’s located on the highest rock.
- Fog Guiding Kite. Located to the northwest of the Stone Blossom area, You’ll find it on one of the tall rocks in the middle of the area. You should be able to see this one from a mile away.
- Fight Kite. The Fight Kite is located on the Heart Pierce River. To find it, head directly North from the Stone Blossom waypoint.
- Kite of Water. Finally, the Kite of Water is located in the North East Area of the Shattered Bridge Region. Head to the giant rock that looks a little like a bird. You’ll find the kite on the ‘wing’ pointing North-East.
