Unlock 30 Hunter’s Guide Entries for Gathering Plants

To complete Great Gatherer, you must unlock 30 unique Hunter Guide Entries for gathering plants. The world of Pandora is jam-packed with different plant species, and there are dozens to find across all the major regions.

Successfully scanning or harvesting a plant will automatically create a new Hunter Guide entry, which you can view at any time in your menu.

After completing Great Gatherer, you will be rewarded with 20 points or a silver trophy. It’s necessary for 100% game completion

Gathering plants does have a few in-game benefits too. Primarily, gathering plants will allow you to cook different meals that give your character temporary buffs. Certain plants can also be used in crafting to create new gear for your character.

How to Complete Great Gatherer

If you’re new to the crafting and looting part of Avatar Frontiers, the whole idea of collecting different plants might sound pretty confusing. However, the process of collecting these plants, and in turn completing Great Gatherer is actually really simple. In fact, there are two different ways to unlock Hunter’s Guide Entires.

The first method is to scan each plant. You unlock the ability to scan stuff after one of the first story missions. It can be used for everything from scanning wildlife to inspecting totems

The second method is to just harvest each plant that you see. To harvest a plant, walk up to it. When you’re in proximity, you should receive a prompt to interact with it. Hold down your interact button, and in a couple of seconds, you will have harvested the plant!

For most people, this is probably the better method, because you will make progress towards Great Gatherer and simultaneously harvest loot that you can use for cooking and crafting.

When it comes to completing Great Gatherer, there’s really no secret method. You just have to go and collect every single plant that you see. As such, it’s a good idea to carry on with the main story and gather as you travel between waypoints. It’s not a glamorous method, but it does work.

As with Wildlife Expert, it’s important to note that these plants must be gatherable to count towards your progress with Great Gatherer. If you harvest or scan a non-gatherable plant, it won’t count. You can check which plants are gatherable by going to your Menu, clicking Hunter’s Guide, and then going to the ‘Type Flora (gatherable)’ menu.

Extra Tips

The method of completing Great Gatherer is pretty simple. However, when you actually try to complete this achievement, you’ll quickly realize just how many plants you need to find!

With that in mind, here are a couple of tips that might make your plant-gathering journey a little bit easier:

  • Make Sure the Plant is Gatherable. One of the most common mistakes that players make when completing Great Gatherer is harvesting the wrong type of plants. To count towards your achievement progress, the plant must be gatherable. If it’s not gatherable, you’re just wasting your time.
  • Use your Na’vi Senses. You can actually use your Na’vi senses to make Great Gatherer a little easier to complete. Just go into sense mode while exploring, and you’ll find weak spots in the environment. You can then gather plants within these weak spots.
  • Complete Great Gatherer Alongside Wilfelife Expert. If you’re trophy hunting in a game as big as Avatar Frontiers, you need to be as efficient as possible. Otherwise, you’ll never get that platinum trophy! As such, it’s a good idea to complete Great Gatherer alongside the Wildlife Expert achievement. This achievement is exactly the same, only you’ll be scanning animals instead of plants. For a full guide on Wildlife Expert, click here.
