(DATV) Dragon Age - The Veilguard

Betrayal of Felassan is the Dragon Age the Veilguard (DATV) boss that awaits behind the Gate of Deep Sorrows. Let’s see how to defeat this mighty enemy!

Where to Find the Betrayal of Felassan

The Betrayal of Felassan is the last encounter in the Gate of Deep Sorrows, so you must unlock the gate to find the boss. Rook opens the gate by completing the Gate of Deep Sorrows side quest. This mission is available from the Crossroads, however, you can only complete it after unlocking exploration in Treviso. The item needed to unseal the gate drops from a level 25 mini-boss, Desmal.

Preparations

You’ve completed the quest and unlocked the gate. Before heading through it, there are a few things to keep in mind. The Betrayal of Felassan is a level 32 boss. If you are not comfortable with taking on an enemy of such level, you can wait until you get close to that level yourself. This doesn’t mean that the boss is unbeatable at lower levels. If you are looking for a challenge, go for it.

Gate of Deep Sorrows

As all other Dragon Age the Veilguard enemies, the Betrayal of Felassan has elemental affinities. The boss resists Cold damage and is vulnerable to Necrotic damage. The preferred party composition is Lucanis Dellamorte and Emmrich Volkarin.

Betrayal of Felassan Encounter

Let’s see some of Felassan’s most-used attacks, so you know what you need to watch out for.

Betrayal of Felassan Fire Damage

Bash. A classic shield bash that doesn’t do much damage, but it has a knockdown effect. Make sure to dodge it.

Swipe. The boss uses its spear to do a swipe attack. You should dodge it.

Slam. Pay attention to the red glowing circle around the boss, the cue for this attack. Get out of it to avoid damage and knockdown.

Projectiles. This attack occurs at low HP. The boss raises its shield and throws Cold projectiles. The damage is significant, but you have enough time to get out of the way.

Undead Minions. The boss calls on undead foes to aid it. Make sure to take them down to avoid being overwhelmed.

Healing. When the boss starts to heal, destroy its barrier.

Strategy

The Betrayal’s shield prevents it from taking frontal damage. Try to hit the boss from behind. Staying behind it will also help you avoid direct attacks. At about 80% HP, the boss will draw power from the Fade rift and prepare an explosion. Don’t leave the room because the boss will regain some HP and armor if you do so. Take down the Rathera Loyalist warriors that spawn while the boss charges the explosion.

  • One Revenant Essence.
  • The Burden unique amulet.
  • 100 Mourn Watch strength.
