Metaphor ReFantazio – Skullduggery (Missable Side Quest)

Skullduggery is one of the Metaphor ReFantazio side quests. It is an optional mission for story completion, but a mandatory task for the Help Anyone in Need trophy. If you are after all trophies and achievements, you must not overlook this quest.

How to Begin the Skullduggery Side Quest

You can start the quest after June 29^th. By this time, you will be in Martira. The quest giver is in Grand Trad, so open the World Map and use fast travel to go back to Grand Trad. Make your way to the Catacombs Entrance and spot the Nervous Soldier. He is the quest giver NPC.

Interact with the soldier and find out more about the mission. He needs eight Mortaskulls, and he needs them fast. Skullduggery is a missable side quest with a deadline. You must complete the task before July 30^th. It’s a matter of life and death. You have enough time to collect the items, however, make sure you don’t forget about the quest. The recommendation is to complete it as soon as possible.

Before starting the Skullduggery side quest, make sure to pick up A Haunted Heirloom side quest as well. The quest giver NPC is also in Grand Trad. You will find the Noble on Sunlumeo Street. A Haunted Heirloom is another time-sensitive side quest.

Metaphor ReFantazio – Skullduggery Walkthrough

The quest takes you to the Grand Cathedral Mausoleum in Grand Trad. You can enter the Mausoleum using the Catacombs Entrance. The Mortaskulls drop from Malmorta enemies. Here is what you need to do to obtain their skulls.

You might notice that the skeletons you need to defeat are not inside the dungeon. They are hiding in the coffins along the walls. To make them come out of hiding, you have to get close to the coffins. When a coffin starts moving, a Malmorta enemy will come out of it.

How to Defeat the Malmorta Soldiers

There are three types of Malmorta soldiers: spear, sword, and bow. All of them are level 19. If you have at least level 17, you should take them down without much trouble. All three types of Malmorta are resistant to Pierce and Slash damage. Light and Strike attacks will help you make quick work of them.

Here are the attacks they use so you know what to expect.

Spear Malmorta: Giant Slash, Sweeping Slash.

Sword Malmorta: Round Slash, Slicer.

Bow Malmorta: Myriad Shots, Rapid Shots.

Each Malmorta drops one skull, so you need to slay eight of them to complete the quest. Don’t worry about keeping track of the skull drops, as Gallica will let you know when you’ve collected all eight. The moment you have all the items, you can go back to the Nervous Soldier and hand them in to receive your compensation.

The reward includes:
