How to defeat the Knowledge Demon in Slay the Spire 2
The Knowledge Demon revolves around four moves. Curse of Knowledge-Slap-Knowledge Overwhelming-Ponder.

At the end of your first turn, the Curse of Knowledge will appear. During this turn, you’ll be forced to choose between two Status Cards. You’ll need to endure three full cycles of Curse of Knowledge before it disappears from the Knowledge of Demon’s attack patterns. After all three cycles, the Knowledge of Demon will transition to a simpler three-move cycle consisting of Slap (17 damage), Knowledge Overwhelming (8 damage 3 times), and Ponder (11 damage, heals 30HP per player and gains 2 strength).

- Set 1: Disintegration or Mind Rot
- Set 2: Disintegration or Sloth
- Set 3: Disintegration or Waste Away
Disintegration will deal 6, 7, and 8 damage per turn during sets 1, 2, and 3, respectively. Choosing Disintegration can make damage stack up quickly, potentially causing a loss if you don’t have enough blocks per turn or can’t burst down the boss fast enough. Alternatively, you can opt for the other available choice.
- Mind Rot reduces the number of cards you draw each turn
- Sloth limits you to drawing only three cards per turn
- Waste Away causes you to gain one less energy per turn.
Overall, this boss forces you to either take damage or reduce your actions each turn. Choosing Disintegration means you’ll need to tank or block damage every turn, while other choices limit your cards or energy. Either way, the fight can drag on, which is dangerous since the Knowledge of Demon heals over time. Besides all of these, this boss will attack you, and the damage is also pretty high.

So, which one should you pick? If you’re confident that you can block attacks, you could choose Disintegration. Mind Rot makes you draw fewer cards per turn, and that missing card could be critical. Sloth, meanwhile, is especially hard to manage if you have lots of 0-cost cards. Lastly, Waste Away reduces your energy by one per turn, which can be tough if you don’t have cards, potions, or relics like Pael’s Tears or Ice Cream that boost your energy above three. But if you think you can handle the consequences of those status cards, you could choose them instead.
