The rather long titled ‘When the Forest is No Longer Dim’ side quest in Wuthering Waves is actually categorized as an Exploration Quest. It begins when the Dim Forest survey team sends out an urgent distress signal for help. We are then tasked with assessing the situation.

In order to be able to unlock the When The Forest Is No Longer Dim quest in Wuthering Waves you will need to head over to Jinzhou City. Here we can speak with the anxious researcher, Mingjing. He will mention the distress call from the Dim Forest reconnaissance team. He will then give us the coordinates to our next destination.
Tracking the Distress Signal
Your first task is to teleport to the Dim Forest resonance nexus and venture to the marked location, where you’ll encounter a camp filled with Exiles. Defeating these adversaries and retrieving the Rusty Data Chip will free the trapped researcher and Hoochief, allowing you to progress further.
Venturing into the Contaminated Zone
After rescuing the researcher and Hoochief, you’ll be introduced to Qiaomu, who will become your guide in this quest. Together, you’ll need to search for Senmin, Qiaomu’s research partner, who has gone missing in the contaminated zone.
Locating the Missing Researcher
Using your sensor, you’ll need to navigate through the roots of the Giant Banyan to find the contaminated zone and locate the unconscious Senmin. Bringing her to safety will pave the way for the final stages of the quest.
Destroying the Offshoot Cores
The heart of the “When the Forest Is No Longer Dim” quest lies in the destruction of three Offshoot Cores, which are responsible for the toxic spore outbreak.
The First Offshoot Core
The first Offshoot Core puzzle can be easily tackled by equipping a pistol Resonator, such as Mortefi or Chixia. Simply hit the drones in the correct sequence to successfully destroy the core. We want to hit the drone targets so that they connect and send the sound waves towards the Offshoot Core.
The Second Offshoot Core
Continue along the path of Wenye Beach and you will come across a dead Sabyr Boar. This creature has been infected by the poisonous spores, hence its red aura. We will eventually reach the next Offshoot Core. Same method as before, aim at the drones to force the sound waves towards the actual Core itself.
Qiaomu will then inform us that this area has been successfully dealt with. We can now report back to Senmin, who has been busy trying to adjust the antibody formula.
Collect The Materials As Instructed
In order to continue with the antibody formula we will need to collect the necessary materials for Senmin. Now there are several different materials scattered around the area, so the ones we need to look for are exactly as said.
Materials On Top Of The Box
The materials on top of the box. Which is to the right of Qiaomu. Search the wooden pallets.
Materials In The Can
The materials in the can actually refers to the Materials inside the Jar. There is also additional materials on the table too, you will need them both.
Qiaomu will constantly ask for different materials until she gets fed up of asking for them all. So just keep a note on where to find these materials. They are either on the table, on the wooden pallets or behind the two scientists in a large jar. Once done a scene will trigger and Hoohoo will run off.
Catch Up With HooHoo
To find Hoohoo simply use the Resonance Nexus south of the Forbidden Forest. Here we will find our third contaminated zone. Use the fire pedestals to destroy the debris blocking our path. Solve the Offshoot Core puzzle, the same method applies. Shoot the drones and direct the sound waves towards the actual Core
Activate The Three Signals Console
Our next destination is West of Wenye Beach. Here we will encounter more Hoochiefs. The door to the building is locked so we need to activate the console. We can do this by matching the coloured panels and connecting them. The wires from each cannot be crossed. If you completed the lighthouse quest then this puzzle will be very familiar to you.
Activate three of these panels in the area and complete the coloured puzzles to unlock the door. Inside is a Tattered Personal Memo. Report back to both Qiaomu and Senmin. Then after a brief discussion use the time progression to progress to the evening.
The Central Giant Tree
Speak with our two scientists once again to discover the giant central tree. Climb up it to find two controlled Hoochiefs at the top, along with another Core but this one is removed and dealt with once you have finished playing with the two Hoochiefs. The banyan tree has now been restored. Next up is When Moonlight Shines In The Forest
