In today’s guide, we’re covering Ys: The Oath in Felghana How to Defeat Gildias. Who is also known as the Gildias, Guardian of the Icy Depths. A dragon boss that you meet in the Icebound Cave Dungeon. This boss has 3,000 HP and it’s recommended that you reach at least Level 30 before facing it. Read on to learn more about Gildias’s attack pattern and how to defeat it.
Gildias’s Attack Pattern
At the start of the fight, Gildias will begin by attacking you with a gust of icy breath, pushing you back. There are also bits of ice within the gust that can do damage. Dodge to the left or right to avoid this attack. In the next attack, the boss will stomp its feet multiple times, causing spears of ice to appear across the ground. Run around to avoid taking damage from them. The boss will then slam its tail into the ground and create a shockwave that creates more ice shards. The moment you see Gildias turn its back on you, run to either one of the boss’s sides.
In another one of Gildias’s attacks, it will use its breath to cover the ground in shards of ice. At the halfway mark, the boss will fly into the air and then drop giant spears of ice onto the ground. Since you can see where the ice will land, run around to avoid being crushed. Similarly, when Gildias’s health is even lower, it’ll fly off-screen. Instead of dropping ice, it’ll swoop in from the side and try to get you. Dodge to the left or right to avoid being snatched up by the dragon.
How to Defeat Gildias
To defeat Gildias, utilize the Terra Bracelet as much as possible. It’ll deal a lot of damage, especially at the beginning. You can also use it to break the ice shards and negate incoming attacks. For example, with the first attack, you can break the chunks of ice before they hit you. Take every opportunity in between Gildias’s attack to land some powerful hits and stagger the boss.
