The Black Myth Wukong Snow Fox is one of the optional Chapter 3 objectives. You don’t have to do what the fox says, but if you meet her request, Sun Wukong gets to fight a secret boss and obtain a pretty cool curio.
How to Start the Black Myth Wukong Snow Fox Side Quest
You must gain entrance into the Valley of Ectascy to be able to find the Snow Fox. This means that you’ve already completed a good chunk of Chapter 3.
Where to Find the Black Myth Wukong Snow Fox Quest Giver
- Go to the Valley of Ecstacy.
- Make your way to the Forest of Felicity by following the snowy slope path.
- Discover the Forest of Felicity shrine.
- Look for the corpse on the left side of the shrine. It is resting against a post near a wooden trail.
Interact with the corpse and you will discover that a fox guai soul occupies it. Keep interacting with the fox to find out what happened. The fox was caught in a trap. A scholar rescued it but eventually killed the fox. Now, the fox is seeking revenge. The scholar is in the New Thunderclap Temple, your next destination.
Black Myth Wukong Snow Fox – Step 1: Go to the New Thunderclap Temple
Sun Wukong assumes the fox’s appearance to confront the scholar in this form. He also receives the Snow Fox Brush. If you happen to lose the fox form, use the brush after resting at a shrine to regain the transformation. You don’t need to be in fox form to go to the temple. Use the brush when you get there if it is more convenient.
How to Reach the New Thunderclap Temple
If this is your first visit to the temple, follow these instructions:
- Follow the wooden trail where you first discovered the body.
- Go straight and you will encounter some stone shapes.
- Make a right and continue on the snowy road through the arches.
- When you reach the red arch with torches, make a left.
- You will arrive at the Longevity Road Keeper’s shrine.
- Go through the arch behind the shrine.
- Make a right and go up the stairs.
If you’ve already visited the New Thunderclap Temple and fought the boss, you can simply teleport to the Temple Entrance Keeper shrine.
Black Myth Wukong Snow Fox – Step 2: Find the Non-Void Boss
The Non-Void boss is quite troublesome to locate. Sun Wukong will explore the temple and quite probably get lost. Follow these instructions to easily get there.
How to Find the Non-Void Boss in the New Thunderclap Temple
- Make a right from the shrine.
- When you reach the stairs, take the left ones.
- Reach the top of the building and look right for the stairs leading down.
- Enter the building through the stairs.
- Once inside, hug the right wall and take the stairs up.
- Go outside through the left door.
- Reach the balcony, make a right, and then another right to get to an upright wooden bridge.
- Go up the bridge and take the stairs on the left side.
At this point, you need to have the fox transformation active. Watch the cut scene and get ready to fight the Yaoguai Chief Non-Void.
Black Myth Wukong Snow Fox – Step 3: Defeat the Yaoguai Chief Non-Void
The Non-Void boss is a tricky enemy. The main mechanic to deal with during this encounter is the boss disappearing. The important thing is to interrupt its combos and apply stuns to keep the boss in place. The boss does not disappear at random times. You can watch out for these signs and get ready to interrupt.
Non-Void Boss Disappearing Cues:
- When performing an attack.
- When dodging your attacks.
- When spinning and kicking.
- When dashing to the other side of the area.
During the paper tornado attack, the boss can get close to you. Pay attention and be ready to use Immobilize when the attack ends, as the boss stays still for a moment.
Recommended Attacks, Transformations, and Spells:
- The Faithful Kowtow attack staggers the boss.
- Use the Pluck of Many spell to keep it busy.
- The Azure Dust transformation is recommended when the boss is staggered.
- The Red Tides transformation deals fast burning attacks.
As a reward for besting the Non-Void boss, you will receive:
- 1,201 Will.
- Blood of the Iron Bull.
- One Tonifying Decoction.
- Two Cold Iron Leaves.
- The spirit of the Non-Void.
Black Myth Wukong Snow Fox – Step 4: Return to the Forest of Felicity
After the Non-Void is down, you can return to the fox to complete the quest. Interact with the body and set the fox spirit free. You will receive the Snow Fox Brush curio for your troubles.
