One of the earlier puzzles you’ll come across in Blue Prince is the Parlor Puzzle. You need to find out which box contains the gems, your reward for finishing the puzzle. On the surface it sounds easy right? Well yes, but it’s very much not.
Read on to learn more! But before attempting this, make sure you draft the room first to have access. Which is self explanatory really. After all we cannot access the puzzle without the room that holds it.
Tips for Solving the Blue Prince Parlor Puzzle

Once you step into the Parlor room, go to the desk in the back corner and pick up the wind-up key which will be used to unlock the boxes. Before doing anything else, look at the list of rules on the desk. Whilst we are still here. The note will read..
- There will always be one box that only displays true statements.
- There were always be one box that only displays false statements.
- Only one box has a prize with the other two being empty.
The more puzzles you complete, the harder they will get. But they will always carry these statements.
If you want to make it easier, consider using upgrade disks to upgrade the room. Also, with the parlor disks you’ll get a second wind-up key to unlock the boxes, with an additional key you should be getting more success, one would think anyway.
How to Solve the Parlor Puzzle

Let’s use an example for how one might solve one of these puzzles.

This one reads The other two boxes are true. This is an automatic lie so this box is false. We know based on the rules only one is true.

There is only one blue box so this is another false box. We know this as it is stating that there are two blue boxes.

The next box reads that The other two boxes are empty. That is true, because they are both lies which makes this automatically the truth. Look inside and what do you find? Gems!

A good way to go about this is to read each puzzle or box one at a time. Based on that message, figure out whether it’s true or a false. Can’t figure it out? Move onto the next one. Then look at all the boxes. Are two of them truths? Then the lie one would be the box to open. Are two of them lies? Then the truth one would be the one to open. The good part of this puzzle is that there is no real time limit. Your Footsteps are only taken into consideration when you enter the room, it is not based on your actual movement.
Will this always work? No, so do your best to focus on each box individually. Remember, it’ll be easy in the beginning and become progressively harder later on.
