What Are the Six Dragon Age the Veilguard Factions
The players begin by customizing Rook, the game’s protagonist. The faction choice is part of the character creation process. The faction determines your starting story, dialogue options, social interactions, and class specializations. Rook’s companions also align with a faction.
Antivan Crows

The Crows are assassins who work in the shadows. They deal with kill contracts and espionage. However, they are not petty killers. Some of the most influential individuals in Thedas are among their targets.
Character Background: Rook just botched their first mission as a Crow, but they are given a second chance to prove their place among the elite assassins.
Companion: Lucanis Dellamorte.

- Hidden Pouch: Additional potion slot.
- Open Contract: Extra damage against Antaam.

Grey Wardens

A faction that needs no introduction for veteran Dragon Age fans, the Grey Wardens welcome all who pledge their life to the cause: protecting the world from the blight.
Character Background: Rook disobeys the orders to save innocent lives. The young Grey Wardens agree with the choice, but the elders are unhappy.
Companion: Davrin.

Lords of Fortune

Wherever there’s treasure, that’s where the Lords of Fortune are. From dungeon raiding to theft, the members of this organization will do anything to get their hands on riches.
Character Background: Rook kills a prominent aristocrat in order to secure an unholy relic. Unfortunately, the noble’s death spells trouble for the Lords of Fortune.
Companion: Taash.
Class Specializations:
- Rogue Saboteur.
- Warrior Slayer.
Faction Traits:
- Relentless: Takedowns are easier to perform.
- Healthy Competition: Extra damage against mercenaries.
- Together in Glory: Faction reputation bonus.
Mourn Watch

A necromancer caster, the Mourn Watch deals with all things dead and undead. Their mission is to gain knowledge of the dark magic arts.
Character Background: Rook is an orphan raised and trained by the necromancers. Their involvement in a quarrel between unliving aristocrats leads to an ad interim leave from the order.
Companion: Emmrich Volkarin.
Class Specializations:
- Mage Death Caller.
- Warrior Reaper.
Faction Traits:
- Acute Affliction: One extra affliction stack.
- Return to the Grave: Extra damage against demons and undead.
- Recognized Name: Faction reputation bonus.
Dragon Age the Veilguard Factions Shadow Dragons

The champions of the oppressed and downtrodden, the Shadow Dragons are a resistance movement from Tevinter. They fight for the residents of Minrathous.
Character Background: Rook brings down a slavery ring, however, the Venatori catch wind of their actions and Rook has to leave the city.
Companion: Neve Gallus.
Class Specializations: Mage Evoker.
Faction Traits:
- Resourceful: Faster class resource regeneration.
- Never to Rise: Extra damage against Venatori.
- Light in the Dark: Faction reputation bonus.
Dragon Age the Veilguard Factions Veil Jumpers

An alliance of explorers dedicated to exploring the Arlathan Forest ruins, the Veil Jumpers are the ultimate authority on elven magic.
Character Background: Rook saves her companions from a dangerous expedition, but loses a very important map in the process. The elders don’t take this lightly.
Companion: Bellara Lutare.
Class Specializations: Veil Ranger.
Faction Traits:
- Keen Eye: Extra critical and weak point damage.
- Attuned Strikes: Extra damage against Fae.
- Close to the Veil: Faction reputation bonus.
