Doom the Dark Ages – All 32 Demonic Essence Locations

In Doom the Dark Ages you need to be able to upgrade your health, armor, and ammo. How do you do that you ask? Well by getting demonic essence! This is a collectable that drops after a combat encounter with say a leader or other powerful enemy.

Read on to learn how to find all 32 demonic essences in the game! By collecting them all you will net a total of 5 trophy achievements, including; Essential Upgrade, Essentially Unstoppable, Essential Ammo, Essential Health and Essential Armor

Locations of Demonic Essence in Doom The Dark Ages

Here are the locations of all the demonic essence. Starting with HP Demonic Essence. There is a total of 10 to find throughout Doom The Dark Ages. Our first chapter begins at Habeth, Chapter 2.

#1 Health – Hebeth HP Demonic Essence

You get this one at the end of the Habeth chapter after fighting your first leader. All you need to do is defeat it and you will, then, get the HP Demonic Essence AKA health upgrade.

#2 Health – The Holy City of Aratum HP Demonic Essence

West of your starting position in the area you need to destroy some hell carriers. An ememy on top of a building is the one you need to kill.

#3 Health – Siege Part 2 HP Demonic Essence

Once you get to the end of the chapter, you’ll find yourself in the hangar. Defeat the leader and then you get it.

#4 Health – Ancestral Forge HP Demonic Essence

The leader will appear in the beginning of the area when you are in the eastern corner. Tasked with charging the Ancestral Heart 0/3

#5 Health – The Forsaken Plains

There’s an open area where you’ll encounter the leader who drops the demonic essence. It’s in the back left corner near one of the main hell cannons.

#6 Health – Sentinel Command Center

This can be found in the combat arena. First the Ravager needs to be defeated and once they are, the leader will appear. Defeat them for the essence.

#7 Health – Spire of Nerathul

There are a series of platforms you drop down after the shipwreck. Follow along and near an optional gore nest will be a leader that holds the essence.

#8 Health – City of Ry’uul

After picking up Ruby one following a combat encounter, defeat the leader.

#9 Health – Harbor of Souls

You’ll pick up Toy #1 and suddenly there are a lot of enemies to defeat. Once the leader spawns, kill it.

#10 Health – Ressurection

The leader you need to defeat to get this essence is found literally at the start of the chapter. It’s your first combat encounter!

List Of Armor Demonic Essences In Doom The Dark Ages

There is a total of 10 Armor Demonic Essences to be found and collected throughout Doom The Dark Ages. The first one can be found during Chapter 4 – Sentinel Barracks.

#1 Armor Demonic Essence – Sentinel Barracks

Once you find yourself outside the Sentinel shrine, perform a shield recall jump. Once a heavily armored mancubus appears, defeat it.

#2 Armor Demonic Essence – Siege Part 1

The leader to defeat appears east of the gore portal.

#3 Armor Demonic Essence – Abyssal Forest

You need to defeat the leader in the combat area after the first Sentinel Shrine.

#4 Armor Demonic Essence – The Forsaken Plains

On the right side of the map near the hell cannon, the leader will spawn.

#5 Armor – Hellbreaker

Defeat the leader that appears in the final combat arena during this chapter.

#6 Armor – From Beyond

The leader to defeat will appear at the other demonic portal during this chapter.

#7 Armor – City of Ry’uul

There is a few things to do to get this one. While in the open area, you will reach a platform that says combat counter. Using a shield launcher to go across, climb up on the right side of the wall and then go straight.

Seeing gold, use another shield launcher to reach the platform. Then the combat encounter will trigger, letting you defeat the leader.

#8 Armor – The Kar’Thul Marshes

The leader to defeat is guarding the Relic fragment. This is on the left.

#9 Armor – Belly of the Beast

This one is pretty easy. The leader will appear during the first major combat encounter in this area.

#10 Armor – Ressurection

While you are at the siege tower, on the right side, the leader will spawn.

Where To Find All 12 Ammo Demonic Essences

There is a total of 12 Ammo Demonic Essences to be found in Doom The Dark Ages. These start at Chapter 5 – The Holy City of Aratum

#1 Ammo Shell – The Holy City of Aratum Demonic Essence

The enemy you need to defeat is at the end of the hell barrier in the east.

#2 Ammo Spike – Siege Part 1 Demonic Essence

This enemy will appear at the gore portal. This is found in the northwest corner of the map.

#3 Ammo Cell – Ancestral Forge

You can get this upgrade after unlocking your first shield rune. Just follow the main story and the enemy you need to defeat will appear.

#4 Ammo Skull – The Forsaken Plains

The leader to defeat can be found at the gore nest. To get there, head north of the hell cannon found in the right side of the map.

#5 Ammo Reaver – From Beyond

The enemy will appear at a demonic portal where your main object marker is located.

#6 Ammo Launcher – Spire of Nerathul

After picking up Toy #2 you’ll have a combat encounter. Defeat the leader!

#7 Ammo Shell – The Kar’Thul Marshes

In the back right corner of the map, there is a leader guarding a relic fragment.

#8 Ammo Spike – Temple of Lomarith

Once this combat encounter appears, fight the leader! It’s literally impossible to miss.

#9 Ammo Cell – Temple of Lomarith

This is the same area where you get Toy #1. After going through the portal, go to the shipwreck on your left side. Fight the leader!

#10 Ammo – Harbor of Souls

There’s a cut scene that leads you to a new area. Then in the first combat arena, the leader appears.

#11 Ammo Rever – Resurrection

Around the siege tower, found on the left side of the map, defeat the leader.

#12 Ammo Launcher – Reckoning

After finding the second sentinel shrine, defeat the leader.
