The Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Calling All Frogs side quest can be found in the Junon Region during Chapter 4. This is a side quest done with Tifa. It is marked by a green exclamation point near the docks with text that says “Quest:???” when you hover over it.
This quest is a bit different from others, where you’re usually an errand boy or helper. This one is a fun little side quest where Cloud reluctantly has fun with his friends. It’s a much-needed light-hearted encounter that raises Cloud and his friends’ morale.
Beginning the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Calling All Frogs Side Quest
When you reach the quest marker location, you’ll see a frog on the ground. Talk to the frog, which will turn into a boy named Finn, to begin the quest. He’ll tell you that no grown-ups are allowed and explain that the smoke here turns them into frogs. Once he learns that you saved one of their friends, Percilla, he’ll ask you to play with him and the other kids. Before you can do so, creatures called Ignilisk appear and the kids will ask you to protect them. However, when you try to approach the creatures, Cloud and Tifa turn into frogs.
Defeat the Ignilisk
You have to fight the small creatures as a frog. At least four creatures are fighting against Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Barret, and Red XIII. You can still use your standard attack and you gain an ability called Bubble Breath. The Ignilisk will shoot fire at you, which you have to dodge. Staggering your opponent is the best way to get in as many hits as you can and defeat them quickly.
Defeating each creature leads to rewards such as gil, EXP, SP, AP, and loot like beast bones or sprigs of laurel.
Jumpfrog
Once you and your party have defeated the Ignilisk, a prompt will tell you to report back to the children. As you exit the smoke, you’ll turn back into a human but the kids swiftly push you back in so that you can begin playing Jumpfrog with them. Finn explains the rules to you and directions appear on the screen.
To play and win a game of jumpfrog, press O to leap over incoming obstacles. Use R2 and the left joystick to dash. The goal is to remain on the platform for longer than the allotted time.
You and your party are teleported to a platform, still in frog form, and you have to remain on there for one minute and twenty seconds. Jump over each lower bean without getting hit by the upper beam. The longer you stay on, the faster the rotation and the faster you have to react.
Stakes get higher when the platform you are on begins to give way. A section of the platform will begin to shake before falling, warning you that you have a few seconds to get off.
As long as you stay on for a minute and twenty seconds before getting knocked off then you win.
Rewards for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Calling All Frogs Side Quest
You’ll receive two sets of rewards. The first rewards you receive are for completing the Jumpfrog-Whirligig Whack Rank 1, where you’ll get a Rank 1 completion reward and enfeeblement ring.
