The Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Lifeline in Peril side quest is located in the city of Kalm, which is in the Grasslands, during the second chapter.
Beginning the Lifeline in Peril Side Quest
The first thing you want to do to begin the quest is to talk to the Major of Kalm, Fritz Bellgener. He is in the city, surrounded by a small, but worried, crowd. He tells you and Barret that there is a leak in the mako pipeline, their source of power, and he asks you to deliver a message to the merc he hired to fix it.
At this point, you get three dialogue options.
- “Inquire about the pipeline.”
- “Ask about this “merc”.”
- “Take the job.”
Select “Take the job” to continue the quest.
Maintenance Warehouse
A new quest objective and map marker will appear, instructing you to head to the Maintenance Warehouse. Once you arrive, you’ll find a girl from Sector 5 named Kyrie, a “merc” that Cloud and Barret are familiar with. She’s the one the mayor hired and she’ll reveal that she hasn’t actually gotten anything done because she doesn’t have the parts she needs. Cloud makes a deal with her: he’ll help if she stops calling herself a merc.
Kyrie will agree and give Cloud a list of the parts that she needs. Their locations are added to your map.
At this point, you’ll be presented with another round of dialogue options when she asks if you have any questions.
- “Where are the parts?”
- “Nope, let’s do this.”
If you ask “Where are the parts?” Kyrie will tell you that they’re in heaps of scrap nearby. Select the second option, “Nope, let’s do this,” to continue.
Finding the Parts
To find the parts for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Lifeline in Peril, follow the yellow markers on your map at the top of your screen to find the heaps of scrap metal lying around the area. Approach them and press the corresponding button to collect the parts, such as a slab of rusted sheet metal and corroded nails.
Search four piles and then you should have enough to return to Kyrie. She’ll ask you if you found what you need and you have more dialogue options.
- “Ask about the parts.”
- “Hold on to them for now.”
- “Give her everything you’ve collected.”
Select “Give her everything you’ve collected” to give her the metal and continue the quest
She’ll ask you to follow her and you’ll run into a few Grassland Wolves and Mus in a field. You’ll have to defeat the fiends before you can continue. They only take a few hits and abilities hits, such as Braver, Triple Slash, Focused Thrust, or Assess, to kill. Kyrie will finish leading you to the broken pipe.
As Kyrie brags about her ability to fix the pipe, a mushroom-like plant called a Noxicap will spring from the ground. It’s been mutated by the mako leaking from the hole in the pipe and you’ll have to fight it. It will spit noxious fumes, so avoid them. Using regular attacks and Cloud’s abilities and spells, like ice or fire, will wear down the Noxicap’s health. Defeating the Noxicap gives you 31 gil, a sprig of sage, 24 EXP, and 1 AP.
After Kyrie finishes her job and engages in conversation with you, two more Noxicaps spring from the ground and attack. Since she is no longer a “real merc”, she leaves you to deal with it. Using the same tactics as before will help you defeat the Noxicaps.
Rewards for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Lifeline in Peril Side Quest
Once you’ve finished your battle, return to Major Fritz in the city. He tells you that Kyrie has already informed him of the pipeline repair and that she told him to give them a cut of her payment, 3,000 gil. At the end of the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Lifeline in Peril side quest, the party gains 10 EXP, Cloud gains 300 EXP, and your relationship with Barret depends.
