In this Frostpunk 2 Chapter 1 Walkthrough, we’re guiding you through the first chapter of 11 Bit Studio’s newest game. In Chapter 1, you have to expand your shelter, find a new source of fuel, establish a colony, transfer oil to New London, and more.
Unlike the Prologue, where you’re preparing for a whiteout, this chapter gives you a timer based on coal supply. You start off with 624 weeks until you run out.
Frostpunk 2 Chapter 1 Objectives
Secure Coal and Expand Shelter
At the start of Chapter 1, players have three main objectives. First, they should start off by frostbreaking the Shallow Coal Seam. Once this is done, you can build an Extraction district, which will allow you to turn on the generator.
After players have completed these tasks, they can build new Housing Districts, providing more shelter for the people of New London.
Scraping the Barrel
After completing the first set of tasks, new ones will appear. You should now expand the Housing District that you built. Next, open your Construct Building panel and build a Research Institute. After it’s built, research ideas for new Coal Mines.
Once you’ve done that, you should open your Construct Building panel again. Pick the coal mine you just researched and build it in the Extraction District.
Find New Source of Fuel
Next, you want to build a Logistics District on an Old Waystation. Old Waystations are located southwest, west, and north of New London. Then you need to find a permanent source of fuel outside of the city.
Black Gold
In the final quest of Chapter 1, you have to establish a colony at the old Dreadnought and build a trail between it and New London. After building the trail, transfer 75 Oil Output to the Dreadnought.
Tips and Tricks for Frostpunk 2 Chapter 1
- Use your time wisely and keep working, whether it’s building new areas, dealing with politics, researching, and more.
- Keep an eye on your workforce since it is really important in this chapter.
- Explore regions with coal deposits to get more workforce and coal, which this chapter relies on.
- Try to get as many factions on your side as possible which allows you to collect more Heatstamps.
- Build more mines to keep up with coal production if you need to.
- Outposts in safe regions provide manpower and food.
