A Frostpunk 2 Whiteout is a deadly snowstorm that takes over the city and impacts the normal course of operations. During this extreme weather event, the temperature drops. The population will need more Heat to stay alive. The cold also causes the Food production to stop.

To survive a Whiteout, you need to:
- Ensure enough Heat and Food for the people.
- Stockpile resources.
- Keep factions happy.
Whiteouts are dangerous events that can result in failure, so preparing for them and knowing what to do during a Whiteout is essential to New London’s survival.
Heat and Food – Indispensable Frostpunk 2 Whiteout Resources
Having enough Heat and Food is your number one priority. These vital resources will keep your people alive.
Frostpunk 2 Whiteout – Ensure Enough Food for Everyone
Food production halts during the Whiteout, so you need to stockpile Food before the cold comes. Stockpile Hubs are the buildings that store extra Food. These hubs can be constructed anywhere, but you should place them near the Food Districts.

A Food Stockpile Hub costs 100 Heatstamps and 50 Prefabs to build. It requires 100 workers to function. As soon as you have more Food than your people need, start stockpiling it. To survive the first Whiteout, you need 40,000 Food. It takes two Food Districts and two Food Stockpile Hubs to hold this quantity.
Frostpunk 2 Whiteout – Produce Sufficient Heat
Heat is another important resource that will get you through the Whiteout. Heat comes from the generator. You can always put the generator into Overdrive to generate more Heat. However, this can cause it to break and malfunction.

Frostpunk 2 Whiteout – Problems
Many districts will stop working during the Whiteout. This will cause Crime to rise. You can counterattack that with laws. Not having enough Goods and Materials will cause Squalor to rise. Tension will also increase, so you need to keep an eye on the Trust level.
Frostpunk 2 Whiteout Preparations
Increasing the Food production is an essential part of the Whiteout preparation. There are several ways to produce more Food.

Expand Food Districts
Upgraded Food Districts produce more Food, so expand these sectors of your city. The Emergency Shifts action on Food Districts will make your workers put in more hours and produce more Food. However, don’t forget that people are not happy with mandatory overtime and their Trust in you will take a hit.
Idea Tree Research
The Idea Tree can also help you get more Food. Check out the Resource tree to unlock Hothouses and Advanced Hothouses. These facilities cost 50 Heatstamps and 9-10 weeks to start working. These ideas will boost Food production, but also Disease, so keep that in mind. The Tighten Belts action on Wanderers will make them less hungry and reduce their nutritional needs, thus saving Food.

Frostland Exploration
Frostland Exploration is a way to produce resources by harvesting the territory outside the city walls. These settlements might not be affected by the Whiteout, so they can continue to operate and supply essential resources to the city residents.
