In GreedFall 2, there are four main romance options. One of those romances is Nilan, who is from your village back on the island. As always this plays a lot into various dialogue options in companion related quests and story, so make sure you pick correctly if you plan on increasing Nilan’s reputation

How to Romance Nilan in GreedFall 2 The Dying World

Nilan is one of the more unique romances because you start with him as a companion during the prologue. He is a friend of your main character and is not very fond of the newcomers to the island. With his short temper, Nilan needs a calm voice in his ear.

During the prologue quest, A New Evil, there will be an event involving the miners. Make sure to tell Nilan to calm down when you confront them. It requires a diplomacy check, so keep that in mind.

Gaining Approval During Nilan’s Specific Quests

Like with the other companions, Nilan has three main favors or quests that can help you gain approval.

Quest One: When you find the wrong Ikbal, tell Nilan you did your best. While accepting Ikbal’s former partner’s help agree with Nilan, even if it does blow up in your face. Finally, once Ikbal is dead, try to console him. He will tell you a secret he has been carrying, which is your turn to tell him he is not to blame.

In between favor one/quest one, you will head back to the Island, but Nilan will not go with you. After you do see Nilan again, he will be ready to risk his life to complete the ceremony. He will insist on going through with the ritual. You should try to convince him by speaking in your native language.

When he asks about his parents, lie and tell Nilan you spoke to them. Speak of the continent’s retaliation. Eventually, you will convince him not to go through with it. However, the other islanders are not thrilled. Defend Nilan when he is blamed.

Quest Two: When the time comes, pressure Nizam and side with Nilan for the liberation of the slaves. It’s also important to tell Nilan when he asks for your opinion that it’s a good idea. While talking to Ilkan later, ask him about his research to get the desired response.
Quest Three: React to Ilkan’s insults when speaking to him. It’s also important to see Halise right away. At some point, Nilan will ask you to explain in the dialogue, so use a diplomatic approach. Finally, suggest Nilan as chief.

Conversation Approval for Nilan

There are also many other dialogue options that can also help improve Nilan’s reputation. You must choose a specific response to grow your reputation with him. They occur throughout the story.

Conversation One: After escaping, ask Nilan about the bonding ceremony. Reflect on your memory of the ceremony.
Conversation Two: While at the Naunt Inn, talk about what happened with everything back on the island. Tell Nilan you will never forgive them for what happened.
Conversation Three: Ask Nilan about being a Doneigad. Tell him you miss the island.
Conversation Four: Ask him if he wants to talk about what happened during the anatelas fer. Tell Nilan you feared it would separate you.
Conversation Five: Ask Nilan why he didn’t return to the island after you talked him out of madness. Tell him you were worried about him.
Conversation Six: Eventually, on the ship, ask Nilan if he plans to stay on the mainland. Tell him the new bond doesn’t erase the old one.

When you get the chance to invite him to your cabin, take it. Then tell him you love him to finalize the romance.
