Passing of the Age is a side quest that unlocks a trophy achievement and leads to an alternative Hollow Knight Silksong ending.

How to Start and Complete the Passing of the Age Wish in Hollow Knight Silksong
To begin the quest, you will need the Silk Soar ability. Make your way to the Putrified Ducts and head right towards Fleatopia. Continue right until you can jump up. Land on the platform to the right and use Silk Soar to go all the way up one more time. Land on the left platform and keep going until you see a golden tablet you can inspect to begin the wish.
Check out the Tasks menu and notice the quest description in the form of a riddle. Each line hints at a place. You need to visit all locations in order. Look for the blue mushrooms and the golden glow, confirming you are in the correct spot. Play the Needolin at each location and Mister Mushroom will appear. Complete the interaction and move on to the next location. After visiting all seven locations, the wish will be marked as complete.
Mister Mushroom’s Locations in Hollow Knight Silksong
Location 1 – Moss Grotto
Riddle: Under chapel fallen to the monarch’s might. This is referring to the Ruined Chapel in Moss Grotto
Location 2 – Bone Bottom
Riddle: Over camp collapsed to the black thread plight. Head to the entrance of The Marrow
Location 3 – Far Fields
Riddle: Scorched field on edge, shells black and burned. This is referring to the Far Fields
Location 4 – Greymoor
Riddle: Up towers spinning, near the surgeon spurned. The entrance of Wisp Thicket
Location 5 – The Slab
Riddle: Cage of one who raged against the silken lie. South of the Choral Chamber, over in The Slab
Location 6 – Mount Fay
Riddle: Fell heart of frost, who soars on high. This is over in Mount Fay
Location 7 – The Cradle
Riddle: Past cradle’s peak, last test of fitness. Located over in The Cradle
How to Unlock the Trophy and the Hollow Knight Silksong Secret Ending
After you have completed the quest, proceed with the game and defeat the last boss in Act 3. You get to witness an additional cutscene featuring Mister Mushroom. The trophy unlocks once the cutscene ends.
