Megabonk is a roguelike survival game where players are thrown into a map filled with hordes of enemies of various sizes and types, each appearing in different map seeds. Currently, the game features two maps to choose from before starting a run: the Forest, which is unlocked by default, and the Desert, which starts off locked.
Unfortunately, you can’t access the Desert early on as you’ll need to complete a few steps first. Here’s how to unlock the Desert in Megabonk.
How to Unlock Desert in Megabonk
In the Map Selection screen, you’ll see two maps, but if you’re new to the game, the second one will be locked. The only way to unlock it is by reaching the second stage of The Forest Tier 2 while using CL4NK.
While that might sound simple, it actually isn’t, as there are a few steps you’ll need to complete first.
Step one is to unlock CL4NK, and step two is to reach the second stage of Tier 2.
Start by playing Tier 1 on the Forest map. At this point, you can use the starter characters, Fox or Sir Oofie. Build up properly by farming coins, opening Shrines, looting power-ups, and preparing until you’re ready to face the boss. Head to the boss portal, defeat the boss, and that’ll mark the end of Tier 1.
After that, you’ll unlock CL4NK, though it will cost some silver coins.
Finally, to unlock the Desert map, select Tier 2 and use CL4NK.
Try to keep yourself alive while farming for upgrades and items that can make you deal a lot of damage. Then, just like in the previous tier, find the boss portal and defeat the boss.
Once you’ve defeated the boss, the portal will open, which will bring you to Stage 2. At that point, you’ve unlocked the Desert map. Note that although it requires you to reach the second stage, you don’t have to finish it. Entering on Stage 2 is enough.
After that run, you can now enter the Desert, which is required to unlock other characters like Bandit.
