Where to Find the Curioshell Crab In Monster Hunter Wilds (MHWI)
The creature in question is a Curioshell Crab. You can find the crab in all of the five open areas. This Endemic Life monster has fixed spawn locations, so you won’t need to search for too long until one pops up.
You can track down the Curioshell Crab in any of these areas:
- Windward Plains – Areas 14, 16, 17.
- Ruins of Wyveria – Area 8.
- Scarlet Forest – Areas 6, 16.
- Iceshard Cliffs – Area 18.
- Oilwell Basin – Areas 14, 18.
The recommendation is to go to the Underground Water Vein in the Windward Plains. That’s one of the easiest locations to reach. From the camp, go to the water area. Whenever you are close to a Curioshell Crab, Alma will notify you by saying “Is that creature holding something?”. Pay attention to this audio cue and get ready to spot the creature. Use the binoculars and search for the crab in the water.
How to Capture the Curioshell and Obtain A Prize Held High Trophy
After you’ve found the crab, you need to hurry to capture it. They tend to run away if you don’t act fast. In case this happens, you can head to another location or come back later. The general respawn timer for the Curioshell Crab is around 30 minutes.
Select the Capture Net and equip it. Aim at the creature and shoot. You will get the trophy and the Ancient Wyvern Coin. After capturing it, Alma will say “What do you suppose this is? It looks quite old.”
Check out the other locations to capture more crabs and obtain their Ancient Wyvern Coins. These tokens can be exchanged for valuable items such as Armor Spheres and Melding Tickets.
