Speak to Kanya To Activate The Catch Of A Lifetime Quest

To begin The Catch of a Lifetime! side quest, speak to Kanya in the Scarlet Forest Base Camp. Here, she’ll tell you about a huge fish called the whopper, which is super hard to catch. You’ll need a Tuff Joint bait to catch the whopper. The whopper is located in Area 17 of the Scarlet Forest.

Where is the Whopper Located In Monster Hunter Wilds MHWI

To find the Whopper, head to Area 17 in the Scarlet Forest. Go past the ruins to the lake. Look for areas in the lake where the water is disturbed, indicating fish are gathered in the area. You’ll sometimes see large flying creatures called Harpios circling above the area. Begin fishing for a whopper here.

How To Catch The Whopper Fish Gastronome Tuna in Monster Hunter Wilds

First and foremost, you’ll need the Tuff Joint bait that Kanya gives once you accept the quest. The key to catching the whopper is to tire it out before reeling it in. Be careful, since this fish will put up a really strong fight by thrashing and jumping around.

To tire the whopper out, move the rod in the direction it’s swimming. This will also reduce tension on the line. Too much tension and the line will snap, allowing the whopper to get away. When the whopper jumps into the air, keep moving the rod in the direction it’s headed while also pressing the restrain button. This button varies by platform. On the PS5 it’s R2, RT on Xbox, and the Mouse Wheel on PC.

This specific area of water also features another rather large fish. Which I do not think is necessary for this task. So what you are looking for and what worked for me in this quest, is to find and catch a fish known as the Gastronome Tuna. Which is large and silver in colour. Next up is Razzle Dazzle, where we will need to catch a Grand Escunite
