One of the many fishing related side quests in (MHWI) Monster Hunter Wilds is Fishing for Flavor. This one becomes available after finding a Goldenfish. Speak to Kanya once again and now we will be tasked with finding a Gravid Bowfin
Starting Fishing for Flavor
After becoming available in chapter 4 talk to Kanya at the base camp in Scarlet Forest. She’ll be at her usual spot near the pond. After talking to her she says she wants you to catch a fish called the Gravid Bowfin. Now would it be easier if she caught it? Yes, but where is the fun in that? Think of it as good practice for fishing, anyway!
The fish can be found in the Scarlett Forest base camp for easy access, but it can also be caught in Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest, Ruins of Wyveria, Oilwell Basin, and Iceshard Cliffs.
Finding the Gravid Bowfin In Monster Hunter Wilds MHWI
Now it is time to catch the Gravid Bowfin! To make sure you have the right fish, look for a thin fish that’s light brown. The easiest way to spot it is from it’s bright, rather creepy in the dark, green eyes. In the lighter areas it might be a bit harder to see, however so keep that in mind
To ensure that you are able to catch this rare fish, the best bait to use is the Emerald Jitterbait lure that you get during the Seeking the Goldenfish side mission. Wait for the fish to take the bait and reel it back in! As a result of finishing this side quest you will receive 3x Jewled Millet Roe and 5x Honey.
The fish is also something you can keep and use for one of your featured meals. How nice of Kanya to let you keep the fish you caught! Up next is the Whooper Fish!
