Monster Hunter Wilds - Seeking the Goldenfish

Seeking the Goldenfish is the second quest in the (MHWI) Monster Hunter Wilds questline that Kanya sends you on. It follows on from the Fishing: Life in Microcosm quest, which teaches you how to fish. As the name implies, this time Kanya wants you to go catch a Goldenfish!

Starting Seeking the Goldenfish

Where to find a Goldenfish in Monster Hunter Wilds

First talk to Kanya so you can start the quest. To find her, go to the Scarlet Forest base camp.

The next step is to find the Goldenfish because you can’t finish the quest without the fish! This particular fish can be found in Windwards Plains, Iceshard Cliffs, Oilwell Basin, and even the Scarlet Forest. We we have multiple areas to choose from

However, if you speak with Kanya again she will give you a hint as to where you can find this golden swimmer. She will mention that the creature does not enjoy the sunlight. That it enjoys the darkened waters. So a cave, perhaps? Anyway consider fishing somewhere with low light because it’ll make it easier to see this literal golden fish.

Since your already in Scarlet Forest, you can find a goldenfish on your way to area 12. Though, again, this is not the only place to catch one!

How to Catch a Goldenfish In Monster Hunter Wilds MHWI

Now it’s time to catch the golden fish, but before you can you need to equip the golden bughead lure that Kanya gave you specifically for this side quest. Once the goldenfish sees the lure they will lunge towards it, making it easier for you to catch this fish for Kanya. Why do they love it so much? Well, it is one of those mysteries of life

It won’t be a long wait for the golden fish to grab onto the lure. From there lure the fish in with either your controller or keyboard and take it back to Kanya! Speak with her and then she’ll give you your reward! The reward for completing Seeking the Goldenfish is 3x Whetfish Fin and 5x Honey.

It’s also possible to sell goldenfish scales if you’re in need of money so keep that in mind too. Up next is our search for the Gravid Bowfin
