Dareel’s Research Report is a side quest in Monster Hunter Wilds (MHWI). It is his first mission within the quest-chain. It requires us to find and catch a Tracktail Lizard, which apparently can be found in the Windward Plains.

How to Begin Dareel’s Research Report
To unlock this side quest, you need to complete Chapter 1-4 A Hunter’s Pride main mission first. Once you have finished it, go to the Windward Plains Base Camp and look for Dareel. Make your way to the northeastern side of the camp and locate Felicita sitting outside a tent. You will find Dareel inside the tent.
Interact with him to start the side quest. He tasks you with finding and capturing a Tracktail Lizard, a creature Dareel needs for his research report.
How to Complete Dareel’s Research Report
After starting the quest, talk to Dareel once again and he will give you some clues about the creature you need to capture. The Tracktail Lizard is mostly found near oases. Dareel tells you about an oasis in Area 13 in the Windward Plains. That’s where you should find the creature.
How to Find a Tracktail Lizard In Monster Hunter Wilds
Take Dareel’s advice and head to Area 13. Start on the eastern side of the oasis. Search the area and keep an eye out for a dark blue creature with a spiky tail. These lizards are pack creatures, so you might find them in pairs. The creatures mostly spawn by the water and then travel to the east.
If you are having troubles spotting them, check the sand for prints. When the lizard sits upright on its tail, it creates a print helping you locate it.
If you didn’t find any lizards on the eastern side of the oasis, check the northern side. There should be a pair in the middle of the dunes in the direction of Area 11. Another spawn location is near the rocks at the intersection with Area 12.
How to Capture a Tracktail Lizard
Once you have spotted the creature, it’s time to capture it. Be wary, as they are sensitive creatures and will run off to hide in the sand if you approach them too quickly. If you have the Ghillie Mantle, you should use it. Get close to the Tracktail Lizard, open the Equipment Menu and select the Capture Net. Equip it and aim at the creature. Shoot to capture it.
Once you have the creature, return to Dareel to receive five Honey as a reward and unlock Samin’s side quests.
